What is a remote embedded systems engineer?

A Remote Embedded Systems Engineer is a professional who designs, develops, and maintains embedded systems—specialized computing systems that perform dedicated functions within larger mechanical or electrical systems—while working remotely. These engineers work with hardware and software, often programming microcontrollers or processors, to create solutions for products like smart devices, automotive systems, or industrial machines. Their remote role means they collaborate virtually with teams, using tools for code development, debugging, and communication. Strong knowledge of C/C++, Linux, and real-time operating systems (RTOS) is often required. Remote Embedded Systems Engineers play a crucial role in the growing fields of IoT, automation, and smart technologies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote embedded systems engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Embedded Systems Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, proficiency in C/C++ programming, and experience with embedded hardware and software design. Familiarity with development tools such as debuggers, oscilloscopes, version control systems (like Git), and RTOS platforms, as well as certifications like Certified Embedded Systems Engineer, are commonly required. Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills set top candidates apart in this role. These skills are essential for developing reliable, high-performance embedded solutions while collaborating efficiently in distributed teams.

How do remote embedded systems engineers typically collaborate with hardware teams when working off-site?

Remote Embedded Systems Engineers often collaborate with hardware teams through video conferencing, collaborative design tools, and remote access to development boards. Regular virtual meetings are scheduled for project updates, troubleshooting, and aligning on hardware-software integration requirements. To stay effective, engineers may use remote debugging tools and sometimes ship prototype hardware to their home office, ensuring they can test and validate firmware in real time. Clear documentation and proactive communication are essential for overcoming the physical distance and ensuring successful project outcomes.

What is the difference between Remote Embedded Systems Engineer vs Remote Firmware Developer?

Embedded Partnerships Manager

Full-time

Job description

Remote, United States

Role Overview

At Uncapped, we help ambitious founders realise their dreams. Our Embedded Partnerships Manager owns Uncapped's embedded finance partnerships in the US - platforms, marketplaces and payment providers who integrate Uncapped's funding directly into their own product. This is a high ownership role: you decide how the embedded portfolio is segmented and prioritised, you negotiate and close the integrations personally, and you're accountable for the revenue that flows through them against the commercial plan.

Partnerships are a key growth driver for Uncapped. This is a high impact role at one of the fastest growing fintechs in revenue based funding.

About Uncapped

Founded in 2019, Uncapped is a fintech company focused on providing working capital to SMEs in North America and Europe.

We leverage multiple data sources to make credit decisions faster, safer and more conveniently. We are working with the largest platforms in the world, including Amazon and Walmart, and strive to be the best alternative-lender globally.

What Success Looks Like

  • A clear tiering of Uncapped's US embedded partner base, with your effort deliberately allocated toward the integrations that drive funded volume
  • Uncapped's largest, most complex embedded and platform partnerships negotiated and closed personally, by you
  • Partner sourced revenue from embedded channels delivered against the commercial plan, with you as the accountable owner of that number
  • A repeatable operating rhythm for how embedded partnerships are scoped, built and launched, one others can learn from

What you will do

Strategy & Portfolio Ownership

  • Own Uncapped's embedded finance partnerships in the US and decide how that portfolio should be segmented and tiered
  • Prioritise your own time and effort across the portfolio based on where revenue and strategic value actually sit
  • Set the operating rhythm for how embedded partnerships are managed, including pipeline discipline, review cadence and performance standards

Sourcing & Closing

  • Personally negotiate and close Uncapped's largest, most complex embedded deals - platforms, marketplaces and payment providers - with senior counterparts
  • Structure commercial terms, integration scope, incentives and co-selling arrangements on deals with outsized revenue impact
  • Identify and pursue new embedded partnership opportunities that shift the shape of Uncapped's US portfolio, not just add to it

Accountability & Cross Functional Alignment

  • Carry and report on the partner sourced revenue number from embedded channels against the commercial plan
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to shape the embedded finance and integration roadmap around what unlocks the highest value partnerships
  • Translate partnership performance into clear reporting and forecasting for commercial leadership
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Product to ensure embedded partnerships get the coordinated support they need

Requirements

Who you are

  • 7+ years of experience in partnerships, business development or commercial roles, with a track record of owning strategic accounts end to end
  • Significant fintech experience (lending, payments or embedded finance strongly preferred)
  • A closer of large, complex, technical deals with senior stakeholders, including commercial and contractual negotiation
  • Comfortable working closely with Product and Engineering to scope integrations, not just commercial terms
  • Experienced in partner segmentation, tiering and prioritisation frameworks
  • Credible with senior external stakeholders and internal commercial leadership alike
  • Deep understanding of the US e-commerce and digital business landscape and how embedded funding fits within it
  • Strong working knowledge of a CRM such as HubSpot, Pipedrive or Salesforce, with strong commercial reporting skills
  • Fluent in written and verbal English

Benefits

What we offer

At Uncapped, our people make us successful. We are a start-up with big goals, and we work hard, so we want to give everyone the benefits they really want. We are continually adding to this list as new people join -- here are some of the things you can expect:

  • Unlimited holiday: we believe that well-rested and happy people make the best employees
  • Competitive compensation plan
  • Personal growth fund: Raise your game from great to spectacular
  • Monthly recognition and awards: Celebrate wins big and small
  • The opportunity to make a big impact every day on the lives of European and US entrepreneurs.
  • Optional workspaces in Warsaw, London and Atlanta

We can only consider applications from candidates eligible to work in the USA without requiring visa sponsorship.
