What is a remote embedded software engineer?

A remote embedded software engineer is a professional who designs, develops, tests, and maintains software that runs on embedded systems, such as microcontrollers or specialized hardware, while working from a location outside the traditional office environment. These engineers typically collaborate with hardware teams, write code for real-time or resource-constrained systems, and use remote tools to debug and deploy software. They may work in industries like automotive, medical devices, consumer electronics, or industrial automation. Remote embedded software engineers rely on communication and project management tools to coordinate with their teams and ensure product quality.

What are remote embedded software jobs?

Remote embedded software jobs include embedded software engineer positions. As a work from home embedded software engineer, you develop embedded software systems for a variety of computerized devices. Your responsibilities start with assessing your client’s needs. You then design and code the embedded software, troubleshoot your software systems, perform research and test actions on the software, and implement software updates whenever necessary. Other duties include maintaining the software programs, documenting solutions to issues, providing the necessary post-production support, and reviewing the implemented system to debug the embedded environment and interpret error reports.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote embedded software engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Embedded Software Engineer, you need expertise in embedded systems programming (typically in C/C++), hardware interfacing, and a relevant degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering. Familiarity with development tools such as debuggers, version control systems (e.g., Git), and real-time operating systems (RTOS) is commonly required. Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills help you excel in a distributed team environment. These skills ensure reliable software integration with hardware, efficient collaboration, and successful delivery of complex embedded solutions.

What are some common challenges faced by remote embedded software engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote embedded software engineers often face challenges such as limited access to physical hardware for testing, coordinating with hardware teams across locations, and ensuring clear communication about design specifications. To overcome these, teams typically use simulation tools, remote access labs, and detailed documentation. Regular virtual meetings and collaborative platforms also help maintain alignment and facilitate troubleshooting in distributed environments.

What is the difference between Remote Embedded Software vs Remote Firmware Engineer?

Senior Product Owner/ Forward Deployed Executive - AI Delivery

Provectus

Philadelphia, PA • Remote

Full-time

Re-posted 14 days ago

Job description

Provectus is a Premier AWS partner and an Anthropic Strategic Partner at the forefront of applied AI. We help enterprises turn Claude, agentic systems, and their own data into measurable business outcomes through bespoke applications, managed services, and advisory engagements.

We are hiring a Senior Solution Owner to sit at the intersection of frontier AI and enterprise transformation. You will own the story and the delivery for client engagements built on our Programs, Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC with Claude Code, and Blueprint Activation, packaging reusable IP into repeatable outcomes and getting hands on in the field when it counts. You are equally comfortable framing an ROI case for a CFO, aligning a healthcare or financial services stakeholder on a compliant rollout, and pairing with an engineer to wire an MCP integration or ship a Claude Code harness.

What You Will Do:
  • Define value proposition, positioning, and reusable artifacts for your assigned Program or Blueprint, and align sales and delivery
  • Build business cases covering market fit, ROI, and competitive positioning, and translate them into scoped statements of work
  • Run market and use case validation, workshops, and user research, and turn findings into demos and first deployments
  • Stand up Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC with Claude Code, or Blueprint Activation on live client data, driving rapid prototyping from use case to context to result
  • Build with the Provectus delivery stack, including Claude Code, AWOS, MCP servers, Skills, and plugins
  • Define solution vision and roadmap for GenAI and agentic engagements, RAG, and agentic workflows
  • Break complex work into incremental releases and balance delivery against technical debt and architecture
  • Lead Agile execution across backlog, sprint planning, and release process, following a Sprint, Enable, Realize engagement model
  • Contribute to the measurement framework behind our board level AI Maturity Index, ROI signal, and cost read
  • Define success metrics and analytics, and drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis
  • Support change management, enablement, and reusable playbooks so wins repeat across accounts
What You Will Bring:
  • Deep domain expertise in Financial Services and Insurance and/or Healthcare and Life Sciences, ideally in a client facing or consulting context
  • Proven ability to lead or materially contribute to a Provectus Program or Blueprint from zero to one and scale, landing it as real client delivery
  • Track record operating forward deployed or embedded with clients, as either a Forward Deployed Engineer or Forward Deployed Expert, including hands on prototyping
  • 5 to 7+ years in solution or product ownership or delivery leadership
  • 3 to 5+ years with AI/ML, GenAI, agentic systems, or data platforms
  • Strong Agile/Scrum experience and familiarity with outcome based, milestone priced engagements
  • Working knowledge of Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork, including building skills, workflows, and productivity tooling
  • Comfort with MCP integrations, connectors, and custom harnesses
  • Understanding of GenAI and agentic patterns, including prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and agent frameworks, well enough to assess quality and translate to client stakeholders
  • Data fundamentals, including what ETL/ELT, data modeling, and governance mean in an enterprise context
  • Familiarity with AWS as a primary cloud platform, and what MLOps and AI observability involve
  • Strong design thinking, data driven decision making, and executive storytelling
  • Bias to action and comfort operating with structured problem solving in ambiguity
  • Enough engineering empathy to earn credibility with senior engineers and architects on day one
  • Fluent English
Nice To Have:
  • A second priority vertical beyond your primary FSI or HCLS focus
  • Prior experience in a Premier AWS or Anthropic partner environment
  • Claude Certified Architect, Seller, or Developer certification, or willingness to complete one early
  • Certifications such as CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, or AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Software development background
What We Offer:
  • Frontier delivery work across Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations in Financial Services and Healthcare
  • The chance to shape how leading enterprises adopt AI, from strategy through first deployment
  • A forward deployed model working in small, senior teams alongside Principal Architects and Forward Deployed Engineers
  • A growing AI delivery practice where you help build the tooling and frameworks, not just use them
  • Remote friendly culture
