Remote Embedded Firmware Engineer information

What is a remote embedded firmware engineer?

A Remote Embedded Firmware Engineer is a professional who designs, develops, and maintains low-level software (firmware) that directly controls hardware devices, typically in embedded systems such as IoT devices, consumer electronics, or automotive systems. Working remotely, they collaborate with cross-functional teams using online tools and platforms to write, test, and debug code, ensuring the seamless integration of hardware and software. This role requires strong programming skills, usually in C or C++, and a solid understanding of hardware architectures and communication protocols. Remote Embedded Firmware Engineers must also be effective communicators and self-motivated to work independently from various locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote embedded firmware engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Embedded Firmware Engineer, you need strong proficiency in C/C++ programming, embedded systems design, and a solid background in electronics or computer engineering, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with microcontroller architectures, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and tools like JTAG debuggers or version control systems is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, self-motivation, and clear remote communication skills help distinguish top performers in this role. These capabilities are crucial for developing reliable firmware, collaborating effectively across distributed teams, and delivering robust embedded solutions.

How do remote embedded firmware engineers typically collaborate with hardware teams to ensure successful integration?

Remote Embedded Firmware Engineers frequently collaborate with hardware engineers through virtual meetings, shared documentation, and remote debugging tools. They often participate in design reviews, discuss hardware schematics, and provide input on hardware-software interface requirements. Effective communication is crucial, as firmware needs to be tested on physical hardware, which may require coordinated remote access to lab equipment or shipping prototypes. Regular updates and clear documentation help ensure smooth integration and address potential issues early in the development cycle.

What is the difference between Remote Embedded Firmware Engineer vs Remote Software Developer?

Director of Marketing

Job description

Wiza is the most accurate B2B prospecting platform on the market, with 850M+ contacts, verified in real time, trusted by 500,000+ GTM professionals. We're profitable, growing fast, and among the highest rated data tools on G2.

This is a remote role based in North America. For candidates based in Toronto, you will have optional access to our downtown office space.

Why we're hiring this role

Our Director of Marketing will help to develop our strategy, and drive our next phase of growth.

Wiza has taken a major leap in the past two years - thousands of people sign up for Wiza every week, our data wins head-to-head accuracy tests against every major competitor, and we're embedded in the products GTM teams already use. We are cash positive and profitable, which means you get to build for compounding growth rather than for a runway.

Three revenue motions are growing at once — self-serve/ PLG revenue, sales-led annual contracts, and a fast-growing API business where partners deploy Wiza data inside their own products. You will develop a team that effectively helps us accelerate each of these massive opportunities.

What you'll own

Full-funnel demand. Everything from awareness to closed revenue: organic, paid, content, lifecycle, and product-led. You own the number — pipeline sourced and influenced — not just activity. You'll direct our external partners on paid and decide what we bring in-house.

Positioning and the story we tell. Wiza serves a range of use cases from prospecting and list building, CRM enrichment and upkeep, to powering external workflows via our API. You'll sharpen the narrative for each one and make sure it lands consistently across channels.

Product marketing and launch. We ship fast, and there's meaningful capability landing every month. Your team will help keep our customers and market educated to the fast developing capabilities of the platform.

Product-led growth. Our self-serve funnel is one of our biggest assets — a continuous, high-volume flow of exactly the users we want. Working with Product, your team will influence paths that move a free user to paid, an individual to a team, and a curious developer to API spend. We think some of the fastest wins in the business are here.

New markets. We're horizontal by nature, and we're actively expanding into segments where great contact data is a genuine unlock — financial services, enterprise sales orgs, and industries the incumbents have served poorly. You'll help choose which ones we go after and build the programs that reach them.

Measurement and operating cadence. Partner with RevOps — who are strong, AI-native, and already instrumented — to close the loop on source attribution, funnel conversion by segment, cost per opportunity, and what signups actually become. You'll bring that to the GTM leadership table monthly and set the agenda with it.

Marketing at Wiza. We want you to build a high-performing team with exactly the mix of talent that you want to work with, and compliment your skills the best. You will have an open headcount on day 1 to help you tackle the many opportunities we have for growth.

Requirements

Who will be great in this role
  • Someone who wants to own a function outright help steer the future of Wiza
  • Someone who gets genuinely nerdy about conversion metrics, GTM tech, and how modern buyers actually find software
  • Someone who is comfortable being both a strategist, and a tactician when required
  • Someone who remembers that they are working with humans, and cares about being a positive member of Wiza's daily culture
What you'll bring
  • 7+ years in B2B marketing, with real depth in demand generation and ownership of a full funnel
  • Experience marketing a product with both a sales-led and a self-serve motion — you understand how PLG and enterprise pipeline feed each other rather than compete
  • A track record of building from 0 to 1: campaigns, pages, launches, and programs you designed and shipped, with numbers you can speak to
  • Strong product marketing instincts — you can take a technical capability and turn it into a story a buyer cares about
  • Fluency in the modern marketing stack: HubSpot, paid channels, SEO tooling, web (Webflow or similar), analytics
  • An AI-native instinct. You've built workflows with Claude or similar and you have a point of view on what AI changes about how marketing gets done
  • Comfort with data — you can answer your own questions in HubSpot or a BI tool without waiting on someone else
  • A bias toward shipping. Strong opinions, loosely held. The instinct to ask "why" twice before building anything
  • Leadership and a strong instinct on what skill set you want to bring in with your first hire
