Job description

Pennwood Cyber Charter School is seeking dynamic, student-focused, Pennsylvania-certified elementary teachers to join our instructional team. This remote position requires living in Pennsylvania or within a one-day drive of the state, with priority consideration for Pennsylvania residents. Working remotely, our teachers deliver high-quality virtual instruction using phone, video conferencing, our learning management system, and various curriculum tools.
You will work closely with learning coaches, students, and colleagues to ensure every child successfully engages with and completes their learning program. Collaboration across grade levels and departments is essential to creating a cohesive, effective, and supportive cyber school environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging asynchronous and synchronous instruction in whole group, small group, and 1:1 settings.
  • Complete all grading, lesson preparation, and student/family communications within established timelines.
  • Collaborate regularly with grade-level and subject-area teams (PLCs) to:

    • Update Personal Learning Plans.
    • Score assessments and provide actionable feedback.
    • Refine instructional strategies based on data.

  • Maintain broad knowledge of the K-5 curriculum and deep expertise in assigned grade-level courses.
  • Adapt lesson content and instructional approaches to meet varied learning needs.
  • Support students and learning coaches with strategies for daily assignments and projects.
  • Communicate proactively with families via the LMS, phone, and email.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, grades, and communication logs.
  • Partner with school counselors and the engagement team to monitor student progress, set goals, and address barriers to learning.
  • Support implementation of IEPs and accommodations for students with special needs.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Contribute to building an online school community through virtual events, social opportunities, and relevant field trips.
  • Coordinate and attend field trips and integrate them into instruction when possible.
  • Assist in the organization and administration of state assessments.
  • Represent the school at recruitment, marketing, and community events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
