Senior Gravity, Magnetic & Electrostatic Mineral-Separation Specialist - GCM-1
Location: Remote - anchored to Denver, Colorado
Engagement: Contingent consulting/project-based assignment
Anticipated compensation: $150-$300 per hour or a negotiated fixed price for a defined work package
Travel: International travel may be required

Position Summary
Axyde Analytics is assembling a multidisciplinary expert cadre for a time-sensitive proposal to the U.S. Trade and Development Agency. If Axyde receives the award, USTDA may request support evaluating prospective international mining, mineral-processing, refining, infrastructure and critical-mineral supply-chain projects.
For GCM-1, Axyde is seeking a senior specialist with substantial, directly evidenced experience in physical mineral separation, specifically:
  • Gravity concentration
  • Magnetic separation
  • Electrostatic separation

This is a deliberately narrow technical requirement. The selected specialist may contribute within a broader multidisciplinary project team, but selection for GCM-1 will be based primarily on demonstrated depth in these specific separation technologies.
This is not a general mining, metallurgy, mineral-processing, engineering or project-management position. General industry breadth will not substitute for directly relevant specialist experience.
Potential Responsibilities
Depending on the assignment, the specialist may:
  • Evaluate mineralogical and metallurgical test data for suitability for gravity, magnetic or electrostatic separation.
  • Assess whether proposed physical-separation methods are technically appropriate for a particular ore, concentrate, tailings stream or secondary feedstock.
  • Review or develop beneficiation flowsheets incorporating dense-media separation, jigs, spirals, shaking tables, centrifugal concentrators, magnetic separators, electrostatic separators or related equipment.
  • Evaluate liberation requirements, particle-size distributions, feed preparation, classification and preconcentration assumptions.
  • Assess laboratory, bench, pilot, demonstration and commercial-scale test results.
  • Review recovery, grade, mass yield, selectivity, throughput and product-quality assumptions.
  • Identify process risks, test-work gaps, scale-up limitations and requirements for additional metallurgical investigation.
  • Evaluate equipment selection, operating assumptions, capital requirements and implementation considerations.
  • Contribute to project scopes, terms of reference, work plans, budgets, schedules and technical-risk registers.
  • Prepare or independently review concise, decision-grade technical findings and recommendations.
  • Participate in remote meetings, stakeholder discussions and international site visits when required.

Required Specialized Experience
Applicants must demonstrate meaningful experience in at least one-and preferably more than one-of the following:
  • Gravity concentration of critical-mineral or polymetallic ores.
  • High- or low-intensity magnetic separation.
  • Wet or dry magnetic separation.
  • Electrostatic or high-tension separation.
  • Heavy-mineral-sands beneficiation.
  • Rare-earth, tin, tungsten, tantalum, niobium, chromite, manganese, graphite or comparable critical-mineral beneficiation.
  • Recovery of valuable minerals from tailings, waste streams or unconventional feedstocks.
  • Laboratory and pilot-scale test-work design and interpretation.
  • Commercial flowsheet development, equipment selection, commissioning or operational optimization.

Applicants must distinguish their personal technical contributions from the work performed by the broader project or organization.

  • At least two directly relevant physical-separation projects.
  • The minerals, ores, concentrates or secondary feedstocks involved.
  • The specific gravity, magnetic or electrostatic technologies used.

  • The scale of the work: laboratory, pilot, demonstration or commercial.
  • Relevant equipment, flowsheets, operating parameters or test programs.
  • Technical reports, designs, reviews, recommendations or other deliverables personally produced.
  • Measurable outcomes such as recovery, grade, selectivity, throughput, product quality, cost reduction or process-risk mitigation, where available.

A résumé that merely lists "mineral processing," "beneficiation" or "metallurgy" without substantiating the required separation experience will not be advanced.
Breadth is not rewarded for GCM-1 unless the required physical-separation depth is first established.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, mining engineering, geological engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer, Qualified Person, Chartered Engineer or comparable credential.
  • Experience evaluating projects in emerging markets.
  • Experience developing independent technical reviews, feasibility-study inputs or lender/investor due diligence.
  • Familiarity with sampling, mineralogy, liberation analysis, assay QA/QC and metallurgical accounting.
  • Experience preparing English-language reports for government, financial or executive decision-makers.

  • Be a U.S. citizen or a non-U.S. citizen lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States.
  • Be potentially available to begin supporting an authorized assignment within approximately 20 days, subject to final scheduling.
  • Be willing and able to travel internationally when an assignment requires it.
  • Identify any country, customer, travel, employment or conflict-of-interest restrictions.
  • Be able to perform without using or disclosing proprietary information belonging to another employer or client.
  • Authorize Axyde to tailor and reformat the submitted résumé without materially changing the applicant's qualifications.
