Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Resource Geostatistician and Mineral Resource Qualified Person (QP) to join our mining and critical minerals practice. This position may be based in our Las Vegas, Nevada office, with consideration for a hybrid or fully remote arrangement at the Company's discretion, supporting our Las Vegas, NV operations. This opportunity is ideal for a highly experienced professional with deep expertise in geostatistics, mineral resource modeling, and public reporting, who is eager to provide technical leadership, mentor others, and support complex projects across precious metals, base metals, and critical minerals.

This role supports projects spanning exploration, mineral resource estimation, feasibility studies, technical report preparation, audits, and due diligence, and provides opportunities to act as a Qualified Person under NI 43101 and SK1300 for domestic and international mining projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you'd work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. 

Some of the key responsibilities may include:

  • Lead, review, and validate mineral resource estimates and classifications for open pit and underground mining projects using advanced geostatistical methods.
  • Serve as Qualified Person (QP) for mineral resource geology and estimation under NI 43 101 and SK 1300, including preparation, review, and sign off of technical report sections and QP statements.
  • Perform and oversee geostatistical analyses, including variography, kriging, conditional simulation (SGS, SIS), change of support studies, drill hole spacing analyses, and uncertainty assessment.
  • Develop, audit, and peer review geological and block models, including domaining strategies, estimation workflows, and reconciliation approaches.
  • Conduct technical reviews, audits, and due diligence of mineral resource models and supporting data for feasibility studies, corporate transactions, and independent assessments.
  • Provide expert input to grade control strategies, dilution analyses, SMU determination, and mine planning studies.
  • Perform and review database QA/QC, data validation, and geological interpretation supporting mineral resource estimation.
  • Advise clients and internal teams on resource risk, uncertainty, classification criteria, and public reporting standards.
  • Mentor and technically develop geoscientists and engineers in geostatistics, resource modeling, and regulatory reporting best practices.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, client relationship development, and growth of Geosyntec's mining and critical minerals practice.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mine planning, metallurgy, environmental, and permitting professionals to support integrated project delivery.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geoscience, Mining Engineering, or a related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in Geostatistics, Mineral Exploration, Geostatistical Modelling, or a related field. (preferred)
  • Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo., P.G.), or equivalent. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 8 years (10+ years preferred) of professional experience in mineral resource estimation, geostatistics, and mining consulting, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a Qualified Person (QP) for mineral resource geology and estimation under NI 43101 and/or SK1300.
  • Advanced expertise in geostatistical analysis, including variography, kriging, conditional simulation, drill spacing studies, and uncertainty assessment.
  • Proven ability to develop, review, and audit geological and mineral resource models for openpit and underground projects.
  • Experience supporting feasibility studies, technical audits, and due diligence for mining projects.
  • Proficiency with industrystandard resource modeling software (e.g., Isatis Neo, Vulcan, Datamine, Leapfrog).
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, including public disclosure and client reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced consulting environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel periodically as needed for client and project support.
