Description

SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership and oversight for experiment integration and mission execution as part of the Mach-TB Program Office. This individual will act as the primary Systems Engineer for a designated mission, working collaboratively with experiment teams and launch providers to ensure successful mission planning and execution.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems engineering processes and methodologies, particularly in developing stakeholder requirements, verification plans, and assessing mission feasibility. This position involves hands-on technical review, system integration coordination, and stakeholder engagement to address technical challenges and develop effective strategies to resolve them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Representation: Serve as the primary Systems Engineer representing the Mach-TB Program Office for a designated mission, providing authoritative technical oversight for experiment performance and integration and mission execution.
  • Stakeholder Requirements Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine mission requirements, ensuring all aspects of experiment performance, integration, and execution are addressed comprehensively.
  • Mission Feasibility Analysis: Evaluate mission goals and constraints to determine feasibility, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies to ensure mission success.
  • Verification Planning: Develop and manage verification plans to ensure all mission requirements are meeting established technical objective metrics.
  • Experiment and Launch Coordination: Coordinate with experiment teams and launch providers to resolve technical concerns, ensure compatibility, and address performance and integration challenges while maintaining mission objectives.
  • Technical Review Support: Lead Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETRs) tailored to experiment performance and integration into launch systems.
  • Mission Systems Engineering Oversight: Provide end-to-end systems engineering leadership throughout the mission lifecycle, from requirements development through post-mission analysis.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Maintain close collaboration with Mach-TB stakeholders, program management, technical teams, and external partners to ensure alignment and successful execution of mission objectives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience.
  • Background in systems engineering, mission feasibility studies, integration, and verification/validation processes.
  • Ability to conduct technical reviews, and resolve complex system-level challenges effectively and efficiently.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders, including program managers, technical teams, and external partners.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance, Interim Secret required to begin.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with launch vehicle integration, mission operations, or space-based experimentation.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Prior experience with defense or federal programs related to experiment integration and mission execution.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
