Location: Can be Remote, Hybrid or On-Site at one of 3 locations (Indianapolis, IN, Denver, CO or Charlotte, NC)


Summary:

The Sr. Estimator will analyze construction blueprints to determine the quantity and cost of materials and fixtures needed as well as the amount of labor required to complete each bid and work with the customers to receive contracts. The estimator will also help implement measures to increase the Company’s effectiveness and efficiency.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum (8) years of electrical industry estimating experience.
  • Experience in large commercial, industrial, or water treatment is preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical estimating software such as Accubid.
  • An associates or bachelor’s degree in related field or an Electrical Journeyman’s License.


Position Qualifications (minimum):

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • An associates or bachelor’s degree in related field or an Electrical Journeyman’s License.
  • Strong computer skills, to include Microsoft office products and Bluebeam, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code and electrical theory.
  • Proficient skills in reading construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and data sheets.
  • Experience in layout of electrical equipment and systems, including design/build concepts such as electrical one-lines and feeder/branch circuit analysis.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, to include excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Problem-solving capabilities to identify and resolve problems in an analytical and timely matter, by skillfully analyzing and providing alternative solutions.
  • Effective time management through proper planning, organization, and ability to handle multiple initiatives at the same time.
  • Be a team leader, balancing both individual and team responsibilities, with the overall success of the bid prioritized.
  • Self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in InPwr’s business strategies.
  • Ability to travel scheduled or unscheduled on a limited basis.


Essential Functions:

  • Create/revise estimates, proposals, and change orders for current and prospective jobs.
  • Work with business development and project management to build proposals that include accuracy in labor, time, and materials.
  • Identify project cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvements across projects and team.
  • Responsible for project handoff between estimating and project management once project is awarded.
  • Request material and equipment quotes from vendors and equipment suppliers.
  • Review supplier quotes to confirm adherence to quote requests and accuracy of quotes received.
  • Perform takeoff for individually assigned projects.
  • Oversee all takeoff for team lead projects.
  • Lead team bids by fully understanding the RFP and bid documents and delegating tasks to other team members based on experience & ability.
  • Lead design/build bids by understanding the RFP and bid documents and be able to identify and quantify project unknowns or ambiguities.
  • Train new estimators in the strategies and processes of the estimating department.
  • Weekly outreach and follow-up on pending bids.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.


Working/ Environment/ Physical Demands to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employees in this position must be physically able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position.
