Remote Tutors usually provide personalized instruction on specific subjects, often independently or through tutoring platforms. Both roles involve online work but differ in scope, credentials, and work environment.

How do remote educators maintain student engagement and participation in a virtual classroom setting?

Remote Educators often use a variety of interactive tools and teaching strategies to keep students engaged during online lessons. This can include incorporating multimedia resources, live polls, breakout group activities, and real-time feedback to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Building strong communication routines—such as regular check-ins and timely responses to student questions—also plays a key role in fostering participation. While technology can present challenges, successful Remote Educators adapt their lesson plans to take advantage of digital platforms, ensuring that all students feel involved and supported.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote educator?

To thrive as a Remote Educator, you need strong subject matter expertise, a teaching credential or relevant degree, and experience in instructional design. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing platforms, and digital assessment tools is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and time management skills help remote educators engage and motivate students in virtual environments. These skills are vital for delivering effective instruction, fostering student participation, and ensuring successful learning outcomes online.

What is a remote educator?

Remote educators are teachers or instructors who deliver educational content and support to students online rather than in a traditional classroom setting. They use digital tools and platforms to conduct lessons, assign tasks, and communicate with students. Remote educators may work for schools, universities, tutoring companies, or as independent instructors, teaching a variety of subjects to learners of all ages. Their role often includes creating engaging digital learning materials, facilitating virtual discussions, and providing feedback to students. This flexible teaching method allows education to be more accessible to people regardless of location.

Job description

Crimson Education is the world’s leading college admissions consulting firm, with over 1,490 Ivy League offers and 2,410 to the US Top 15. We help ambitious students gain admission to the world’s top universities through expert-led guidance and proven, data-driven strategies. Crimson students are 7x more likely to get into the Ivy League than their peers. We were recently featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.
Crimson is the only college admissions consultancy that brings together:

  • Former Ivy League and Top 20 admissions officers to rigorously review and refine applications

  • Professors and PhD teaching fellows from leading universities to guide students through original, independent research — with pathways to selective peer-reviewed publication or conference presentation

  • Past ISEF winners and judges who coach students to compete for state, national, and international science fair awards

  • Capstone project mentors who help students design and scale leadership initiatives with real-world impact, measurable outcomes, and credible external validation

We’re backed by leading VC firms, including Tiger Global, Heal Partners, IceHouse Ventures, and Movac, and recently closed a USD $40M Series D funding round at a USD $640M valuation. We now operate across 21 markets worldwide, including the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand.

The Role

We’re looking for a high-performing, proven Education Sales Consultant to guide families through one of the most important investments they’ll make, their child’s education.

This is not a transactional sales role. You’ll act as a trusted advisor, helping families understand their child’s potential and designing a pathway to top university outcomes.

This role is fully remote (Canada based), with occasional opportunities to participate in events.

What are the main responsibilities for this role?Drive Revenue & Outcomes
  • Own a pipeline of prospective families and consistently achieve and exceed sales targets

  • Conduct in-depth consultations to understand each student’s goals, profile, and potential

  • Recommend tailored programs aligned to each family’s needs and aspirations

  • Guide families confidently through the decision-making process

Deliver a Premium Client Experience
  • Build trust quickly with parents and students through thoughtful, personalized conversations

  • Clearly articulate Crimson’s differentiated value and long-term impact

  • Ensure a seamless transition from sale to onboarding and student success

Manage & Grow Your Pipeline
  • Proactively engage new and existing leads across multiple channels

  • Follow up consistently to nurture relationships and move families forward

  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships where appropriate

Collaborate & Improve
  • Partner with marketing and events teams to support lead generation initiatives

  • Provide feedback on lead quality, messaging, and sales processes

  • Continuously refine your approach through coaching, data, and peer collaboration

What skills and experience are required?
  • Proven experience in consultative sales, ideally in a high-value service environment

  • Strong ability to build rapport and influence decisions with credibility and empathy

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • High level of organization and ability to manage a remote pipeline effectively

  • A growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with college admissions or competitive university landscapes

  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce)

Why work for Crimson?
  • Rapidly growing start up, with a flexible working environment where you will be empowered to structure how you work

  • Limitless development and exposure - our internal promotions/role changes made up 33% of all recruitment last year

  • $1000 individual training budget per year, we love to ‘Level Up’ (it’s one of our core values)!

  • Psychologist on staff

  • Insightful fireside chats and workshops to help support our high-performing and ambitious team

  • Radical Candor is a feedback approach we live by

  • We’re a global player with 28 markets (and growing) across the globe. Most roles have the option to work from one of our many offices or remotely!

Who You Are

You’re commercially driven but deeply people-oriented. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy meaningful conversations, and take pride in helping families make informed, high-stakes decisions.

If you're excited by the opportunity to combine education, strategy, and sales—and want to be part of a global, high-performing team—we’d love to hear from you.
