Job Summary

Are you passionate about the science of selling? Do you geek out on new strategies for embedding innovative, effective learning in the flow of work — and love turning strategy into programs the field can actually run with?
Purple is looking for a creative, driven, and versatile Sales Enablement Manager to join our Wholesale team. This role blends deep training-content craft with broad enablement execution: you\'ll design engaging, effective learning while also owning launch enablement, field communications, incentive program support, and culture and recognition programs that keep our sales teams informed, motivated, and equipped to win.
You\'ll partner closely with Sales Leadership, Product, Innovations, Marketing, and Operations to translate business goals into content strategies and field-ready tools that empower both retail associates and internal wholesale teams to confidently sell mattresses and sleep-related products in a competitive market. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that spans instructional design, program execution, and cross-functional coordination — and it calls for excellent critical thinking, time management, creativity, writing, and technical skills. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and content creator who can operate with autonomy, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and bring creative thinking to how we equip and engage our sales teams.
The ideal candidate is a strong visual designer, problem-solver, and self-directed worker that can work in a collaborative space, as well as independently. Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Training & Enablement Content

  • Develop retail- and wholesale-focused content: Create engaging training materials — product knowledge guides, sales technique modules, interactive eLearning, videos, quick-reference tools, and customer interaction scenarios — tailored for both retail mattress sales associates and internal wholesale teams.

  • Simplify the complex: Translate technical product features (materials, sleep technologies, warranty terms) into compelling, easy-to-understand content that resonates with frontline associates and customers.

  • Own the content ecosystem: Develop, maintain, and govern training content across Bridge, PurplePedia, LMS, and the Grid Institute training library — including product knowledge, sales skills, and process training, plus new-hire onboarding materials that stay current with launches and strategy changes.

  • Use instructional design best practices: Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to produce training that sticks in fast-paced retail and wholesale settings; partner with the Visual Brand Manager on polished, on-brand assets.

  • Support development: Work with the HRBP to develop and refresh competency-building content, translating goal-setting frameworks and leadership development priorities into field-ready training.

  • Deliver across channels and improve: Design content that is accessible across platforms including LMS, mobile devices, and in-store training kiosks; incorporate feedback from associates, store managers, and retail partners to continuously refine effectiveness.

Launch Enablement & Field Tools

  • Lead launch readiness: Lead enablement execution for product launches, trade shows, and major account initiatives — ensuring the field has training kits, sell sheets, launch guides, and enablement assets on time and on brand.

  • Build the toolkit: Develop and maintain a library of field enablement tools: sell sheets, objection-handling guides, FAQs, competitive tools, and quick-reference materials.

  • Align to selling moments: Partner with Product, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Account teams to translate launch priorities and selling strategies into clear, field-ready content; support seasonal promotions with targeted content aligned to commercial goals.

Wholesale Communications

  • Run field comms: Execute the wholesale communications calendar — drafting, scheduling, and distributing field communications across sales leadership, account teams, and cross-functional partners.

  • Message strategy to the field: Own content development for leadership forums, regional cascades, and the National Sales Meeting — translating strategic direction into clear, engaging messaging that drives consistent field execution; partner with RevOps on logistics, timing, and distribution.

  • Set the standard: Maintain communication standards for the field: consistent voice, timely delivery, and clear calls to action.

Culture & Recognition

  • Drive engagement: Coordinate and execute wholesale culture and recognition programs including Club Purple, contests, Prime Praise, and other engagement initiatives.

  • Celebrate the wins: Develop compelling content and communications that celebrate team wins, highlight top performers, and reinforce team identity; support engagement programming at NSM and key field events.

  • Measure and evolve: Track program participation and field sentiment; share insights to help leadership evolve culture initiatives over time.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner broadly: Build strong working relationships across Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Operations to stay ahead of key initiatives and ensure enablement content is always launch-ready.

  • Advocate for the field: Represent the wholesale enablement function in cross-functional planning discussions; proactively surface field needs and gaps.

  • Own the ambiguous: Manage a variety of special projects with a high degree of autonomy as priorities evolve.

Required Skills, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Instructional Design, Communications, Marketing, English, Education, or equivalent experience.

  • 3–5 years of experience in sales enablement, instructional design, training content development, or field communications — preferably in a B2B, wholesale, or product-driven retail environment (mattress, furniture, home goods, etc.).

  • Strong writing and content creation skills — able to independently produce polished field communications, training materials, program launches, and event content — with strong attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to translate complex product information into engaging, accessible training content, and a solid understanding of the retail sales cycle, especially high-consideration items like mattresses or furniture.

  • Familiarity with instructional design principles and experience with tools like Articulate 360, Vyond, Camtasia, or Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Experience managing LMS platforms and/or sales enablement tools (Bridge, Salesforce, Highspot, or similar); comfortable with platform governance and content hygiene.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and deadlines in a fast-paced environment; a self-starter who operates with minimal direction and shifts priorities quickly.

  • High proficiency in office software, including MS Office, G-Suite, and project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the sleep, home goods, furniture, or consumer products industry, including familiarity with sleep science, mattress construction, or related terminology.

  • Familiarity with wholesale/retail channel dynamics and multi-account environments.

  • Experience designing mobile-first or microlearning content.

  • Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, or CRM/reporting tools.

  • Background in culture-building, recognition programs, or internal brand communications.

Help us equip every retail associate and wholesale partner with the tools, training, and confidence to succeed — and give every customer a better night\'s sleep.

Physical Requirements

Physical activities may occasionally include: remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods; and adjusting or moving objects up to 15 pounds in all directions.

Physical activities may constantly include: communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Environmental conditions may occasionally include: noisy environments; frequent interruptions; and some travel by air as needed for quarterly meetings, trade shows, and customer visits (about 25%).
