Remote Eda Engineer information

How does a Remote EDA Engineer typically collaborate with distributed teams to ensure project success?

As a Remote EDA Engineer, collaboration with colleagues across different locations is essential to meet project milestones and maintain design quality. You’ll frequently use tools such as version control systems, collaborative design platforms, and regular video meetings to coordinate with hardware designers, verification engineers, and software teams. Clear communication and proactive status updates are crucial, as you may be working across time zones and need to ensure alignment on design goals and timelines. Building strong relationships with team members and leveraging comprehensive documentation helps prevent misunderstandings and streamlines the workflow.

What are Remote EDA Engineers?

Remote EDA (Electronic Design Automation) Engineers are professionals who design, develop, and maintain electronic systems and hardware using specialized software tools, all while working from a remote location. Their work typically involves creating and verifying integrated circuits (ICs), printed circuit boards (PCBs), and other electronic components through EDA tools. Remote EDA Engineers collaborate with hardware and software teams, troubleshoot design issues, and ensure the functionality and efficiency of electronic products. The remote aspect allows them to work from anywhere, leveraging cloud-based EDA tools and communication platforms to stay connected with teams and projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote EDA Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote EDA Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, digital design, and experience with ASIC/FPGA design flows, often supported by a relevant degree. Proficiency with EDA tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor Graphics, and familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, TCL) are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and effective remote communication are crucial soft skills for this role. These qualities enable efficient design verification, collaboration with distributed teams, and successful project delivery in a virtual environment.

Job description

Forward Deployed Engineer / Application Engineer – AI for EDA Solutions (Bay Area)

Two openings are described below. This posting is presented by EDA CAREERS, (Technology Futures Inc.).

Forward Deployed Engineer – AI for EDA Solutions Bay Area #7007

This company is reinventing semiconductor with founders that are the leading experts in AI and chip design and are working with top-20 semiconductor companies, major cloud providers, and next-generation hardware startups. Their design and verification are performed through agentic AI workflows and their AI-powered platform accelerates RTL design, verification, and simulation, enabling engineers to achieve unprecedented productivity and correctness.

This is a chance to work at the frontier of AI and semiconductor design and to collaborate with a world-class team spanning AI, systems, and EDA. Your work will help shape a foundational shift in how chips are built.

They are seeking highly motivated capable Forward Deployed Engineer / Field Application Engineer to drive the adoption of their AI solutions across key enterprise customers. In this role, you will work closely with customer engineering teams to integrate into their EDA workflows, help them realize tangible productivity gains, and ensure a successful deployment. You will serve as the technical bridge between their customers and internal product and engineering teams, shaping the future of AI-driven EDA. You must know the flows end-to-end to solve problems by yourself, while collaborating with the engineering and sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to key semiconductor customers throughout the adoption journey.
  • Deployments of their AI solutions.
  • Understand customers' EDA toolchains and workflows (e.g., RTL design, functional verification, simulation) and tailor the integration accordingly.
  • Provide technical support, training, and best practices to maximize customer success.
  • Gather and synthesize customer feedback to influence product roadmap and feature development.
  • Create technical collateral (application notes, deployment guides, tutorials) to scale customer success.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales, product, and engineering teams to ensure seamless customer experience and long-term engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in RTL design, functional verification, or EDA application engineering.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools (e.g., Synopsys VCS, Cadence Xcelium, Siemens Questa, linting, CDC analysis) and RTL languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog).
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills; ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers or large engineering teams is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML concepts or interest in AI-driven automation is highly desirable.
  • Self-starter mentality, excited to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
