Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' mental health by exploring their emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges related to weight management, obesity, and binge eating.
  • Utilize standardized assessment tools to identify mental health issues, guiding the selection of tailored treatment options.
  • Provide individualized counseling sessions focusing on the emotional and behavioral aspects affecting weight control.
  • Create personalized treatment plans that align with each patient's unique goals, encompassing their emotional, psychological, and physical health needs.
  • Educate patients on the psychological dynamics of weight management, including aspects like self-esteem, body image, and stress coping mechanisms.
  • Engage with patients to deepen their understanding of the emotional triggers behind unhealthy eating behaviors.
  • Employ evidence-based therapeutic practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques to empower lasting behavioral modifications.
  • Lead or co-facilitate group therapy sessions aimed at weight management, fostering a supportive environment for patients to share experiences and gain insights.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians and nutritionists, to provide comprehensive and holistic care.
  • Assess and document the progress of patients toward their mental health and weight management objectives, using EPIC software to maintain accurate medical records.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and trends in mental health counseling and weight management, actively participating in professional development through workshops and training.
  • Encourage teamwork and collaboration in providing the best possible patient care while upholding the highest ethical standards.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in mental health counseling or a related field is required.
  • An unrestricted Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license to practice in New York State.
