Job description

About Wing:
Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing's fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.
About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Regional Flight Operations Support Managerto join our Flight Operations team. This role is based remotely in the United States.
What You'll Do:
  • People Leadership & Development: Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of Flight Operations Support Coordinators. Set clear expectations, provide regular coaching and deliver actionable feedback to raise the bar for team performance.
  • Oversee Regional Vendor Strategy: Serve as the primary regional point of contact for Vendor leadership to manage contract adherence and optimize the deployment of Ground Support and Visual Observer crews.
  • Operational Systems Governance: Oversee regional utilization of workforce management tools (e.g., Deputy, ServiceNow) and Google Workspace (gSuite), ensuring the team maintains high standards for data integrity and consistent application of scheduling protocols.
  • Financial & Administrative Oversight: Function as the primary approver for team timesheets, expense reports, and regional travel. Simplify complex regional budget issues into actionable steps to solve problems alongside peer managers.
  • Long-Range Capacity Planning: Forecast regional staffing requirements based on projected flight volumes, partnering with internal stakeholders to proactively adjust vendor headcount and recruitment pipelines.
  • SOP Development & Training: Lead the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for site logistics and crew readiness; ensure consistent "Wing Standards" and health and safety policy compliance across the region.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Actively connect your team with cross-functional partners (Maintenance, Training, Community Affairs) to promote shared goals and enable effective teamwork toward Wing's most important targets. Represent Wing by engaging with public and government visitors to support regional outreach activities.

What You'll Need:
  • 5+ years of experience in aviation operations, logistics, or workforce management, including proven experience as a people manager leading distributed teams.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Demonstrated Leadership: Proven ability to set priorities, provide coaching, and manage the performance of direct reports in high-pressure environments.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Ability to independently manage project planning and solve problems of moderate complexity with high ambiguity.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Willing and able to work 5 days/week, including weekends and/or holidays as business needs dictate.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform moderate physical work and maintain attention in outdoor environments for extended periods, including the ability to lift and transport equipment <35 lbs.
