Job description

Internal Account Manager

Employee Benefit Consultants (EBC) • Hybrid / Remote (near Abingdon, VA) • Full-Time

Our mission: helping create smarter consumers of healthcare — through the employer channel. We build employer-driven health plans that educate, elevate the playing field, and put control back in the hands of the people who use them.

About the Role

We invite you to join a team whose sole purpose is to improve the lives of others. We’ve built our strength on improving the financial and overall wellbeing of employees through actively managed health plans — help us take care of the people who need it.

In this role, you’ll be the engine behind our advisors and account managers, exceeding client expectations every single day. You’ll take full ownership of our client data, keep our systems running like clockwork, and give the whole team total confidence in the information we deliver to our clients. This is a seat for a true self-starter who thrives with autonomy — bring your own structure, and we’ll bring the mission.

We’re on a mission to solve one of the biggest crises in our country, and it takes a team to win this fight. If you want to help change the way employers purchase and manage healthcare — and build real, marketable expertise while you do it — this is your seat at the table.

What You’ll Own

• RFP & Renewal Management: Facilitate the renewal process — RFP management, carrier proposal generation, and presentation support for Advisors & AMs.

• Benefits Portals: Manage client benefits-administration technology, including Employee Navigator, Plansight, and Benefitter.

• Carrier Connections & EDI/834: Manage carrier connections for benefits portals, including EDI/834 eligibility file feeds.

• Eligibility Management: Process new-hire enrollments, terminations, and eligibility changes across carriers — with clean notification, new-hire, change, and termination reporting per client.

• CRM Management: Maintain the agency CRM (HubSpot) — logging and tracking client tickets and communications.

• Financial & Renewal Analysis: Build renewal spreadsheets, pull SBCs, analyze carrier proposals, and support the invoice-review process with the accounting team.

• Project & Implementation Coordination: Set up client projects, track progress across the client lifecycle, and coordinate plan implementation between client and solution provider.

• Advisor & Team Support: Support the EBC process in meetings, prep presentations, help resolve client issues, and refine workflows alongside leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree helpful but not required.

• Background in HR, employee benefits, insurance, or project management.

• Strong technology aptitude — experience with Employee Navigator, Plansight, Benefitter, or similar platforms is a plus.

• Working knowledge of HIPAA and comfort handling sensitive data with discretion.

• Experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and boost efficiency.

• Comfort with financial analysis — renewal spreadsheets, rate comparisons, and carrier proposals.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).

Who Thrives Here

• Happy, positive attitude

• Self-starter who manages their own time

• Embraces change

• Analytical, with strong attention to detail

• A continual learner with a desire to grow

• Strong communicator

• Obsessively organized

Why You’ll Love It

• Real Impact: Help employers and their employees take back control of one of their biggest expenses — their healthcare.

• Hands-On Growth: Build deep, marketable expertise across benefits technology, carrier operations, and the renewal process.

• Modern Tools: Work with leading platforms — Employee Navigator, Plansight, Benefitter, HubSpot — and AI tools that keep work efficient, not tedious.

• A Tight-Knit Team: Join a small, mission-driven group where your work is seen, valued, and genuinely matters.

Where You’ll Work

This role is primarily remote with the freedom to manage your own time. We’re looking for someone within a reasonable drive of Abingdon, VA for occasional in-office collaboration and client meetings when needed. Bring your own structure — we’ll bring the mission.

How to Apply

Ready to help us fix one of the biggest problems in America? We’d love to hear from you.
