Introduction


We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our Minerals Grinding Business Line. In this role, you will be responsible for front-end process design, business development, and capital sales support, helping customers develop efficient and cost-effective comminution circuits and equipment solutions. You will contribute to profitable business growth by leveraging Metso's world-class expertise in grinding processes and equipment selection.


You will report to the Director, Process Engineering and Test Center.


This role is based in York, Pennsylvania, USA, with hybrid and remote working options available.


This role includes approximately 30% travel, both domestically and internationally, to customer sites and project locations.


Team you will belong to


You will join a team of highly skilled process engineering professionals focused on grinding and comminution technologies within the mining and minerals processing industry. Our team plays a key role in supporting business growth by delivering technical expertise, process solutions, and equipment recommendations that help customers improve operational performance and achieve their production goals.


We collaborate closely with customers, sales teams, product line specialists, engineering, R&D, test center personnel, and service teams around the world. Our team emphasizes technical excellence, customer focus, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement while supporting projects from concept development through commissioning and operation.


What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain relationships with customer stakeholders to support capital sales opportunities for Grinding Business Line equipment.
  • Support front-end process and flowsheet development to meet customer operational objectives and site constraints.
  • Select and size grinding equipment, including SAG/AG mills, ball mills, stirred mills (VTM, HIGmill, SMD, and VPM), HPGRs, hydrocyclones, and air classification systems.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise laboratory test work and evaluate test results to support process design recommendations.
  • Provide commissioning, start-up, and operational support for newly installed grinding equipment at customer sites.
  • Develop and maintain process models and performance prediction tools to support equipment selection and optimization.
  • Prepare performance guarantees and technical documentation to support commercial proposals and customer engagements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product line management, R&D, test center, project delivery, and service organizations to develop and execute customer solutions.


What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of process engineering experience in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or with an OEM serving these industries.
  • Understanding of grinding, comminution, and mineral processing equipment and applications.
  • Strong analytical and engineering skills, including data analysis, applied statistics, process modeling, structured problem solving, and process optimization.
  • Ability to identify operational, control, and design challenges and develop practical, technically sound solutions.
  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication, customer relationship, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with process control systems, digital process optimization, or advanced simulation tools (nice to have).
