                                                    Azure IoT Solutions Engineer
This is a fully remote position.

PURPOSE 
The Azure IoT Engineer is a senior hands-on role responsible for designing, building, integrating, deploying, and supporting secure Azure IoT solutions for manufacturing clients.  

This position focuses on Azure IoT infrastructure, edge connectivity, secure deployment, monitoring, and repeatable environment delivery across the device-to-cloud path.  

RESPONSIBILITIES  

IoT Infrastructure and Integration  

  • Build and support Azure IoT infrastructure, telemetry ingestion, device management, command messaging, and integration services.  

Azure IoT Platform and Cloud Engineering  

  • Provision and operate Azure IoT Hub, DPS, IoT Edge, messaging, storage, monitoring, identity, and security services.  

  • Build and maintain development, test, staging, and production environments using approved architecture, governance, and operational standards.  

  • Automate infrastructure and configuration using Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates, or equivalent tools.  

  • Configure availability, backup, retention, disaster recovery, capacity, performance, and cost controls for IoT workloads.  

  • Implement Azure networking, private connectivity, routing, and OT/IT segmentation for IoT environments.  

Device, Edge and Manufacturing Integration  

  • Implement secure device enrollment, provisioning, certificate, and identity patterns.  

  • Configure and support IoT Edge devices, industrial gateways, container modules, offline operation, diagnostics, and update workflows.  

  • Integrate devices and edge systems using MQTT, AMQP, HTTPS, OPC UA, and related industrial protocols.  

  • Coordinate with firmware and embedded teams on device identity, telemetry, commands, configuration, secure updates, and field support.  

  • Support laboratory, pilot, factory, and field deployments, including occasional travel to client or manufacturing locations when needed.  

DevSecOps, Cyber Resilience Act Support  

  • Build CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure, edge modules, configuration, testing, security scanning, approvals, and environment promotion.  

  • Implement device and workload identity, certificate and secret management, managed identities, role-based access control, Key Vault integration, credential rotation, and secure configuration practices.  

  • Apply approved security baselines and hardening requirements to Azure resources, applications, edge systems, operating systems, containers, and supporting services.  

  • Embed dependency, secrets, container, vulnerability, and SBOM checks into deployment workflows.  

  • Support remediation, security updates, evidence collection, documentation, and secure release activities for CRA readiness.  

  • Implement monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender, Sentinel, and related tools.  

Testing, Operations and Collaboration  

  • Validate integration, resilience, performance, security, recovery, and operational readiness with delivery teams.  

  • Troubleshoot devices, gateways, networks, Azure services, pipelines, and security tooling.  

  • Maintain diagrams, configuration records, deployment procedures, runbooks, test evidence, and change records.  

  • Participate in design reviews, planning, demonstrations, incident reviews, release readiness, and operational handoff.  

  • Create reusable infrastructure modules, templates, tools, and patterns that improve deployment consistency.  

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.  

MINIMUM SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.  

  • 5+ years of experience in Azure cloud engineering, IoT engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, systems engineering, or related roles.  

  • 3+ years supporting Azure IoT, connected-product, edge, industrial, or distributed infrastructure solutions.  

  • Hands-on experience with Azure IoT, messaging, storage, monitoring, identity, networking, and security services.  

  • Experience with IoT protocols, gateways, intermittent connectivity, offline operation, and industrial integration patterns.  

  • Experience with certificates, PKI, device identity, secure provisioning, Key Vault, secrets, and secure updates.  

  • Strong Azure networking experience, including private endpoints, DNS, firewalls, VPN or ExpressRoute, routing, and troubleshooting.  

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or comparable platforms.  

  • Experience with testing, vulnerability remediation, SBOMs, monitoring, and operational troubleshooting.  

PREFERRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications in IoT, infrastructure, DevOps, security, or architecture.  

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, operational technology, or connected-equipment environments.  

  • Experience with IEC 62443, Defender for IoT, industrial network segmentation, and secure remote access.

Starting Compensation Range: $140,000 per year

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. The range is intended to reflect our commitment to attracting top talent, and the final offer will be based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's previous experience, expertise in the field, relevant certifications, and the specific requirements of the role. In addition, internal equity, market trends, and geographic location may also influence the final salary.
