Job description

Nomad eCommerce is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Core Developer to join our engineering team. At Nomad, our Core Developers are responsible for building and maintaining the foundational systems that power our ecommerce platform and ERP integrations. This is not just feature work-this role focuses on stability, performance, scalability, and the underlying logic that keeps our platform running reliably for our customers.

You'll work closely with front-end developers, project coordinators, support, and other engineers to design and implement robust solutions that directly impact how orders, customers, and data flow between systems. Your work will touch critical infrastructure and business logic, making accuracy, performance, and long-term maintainability essential.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, takes ownership of systems, and understands the importance of balancing speed with production stability.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain core application logic that powers ecommerce and ERP integrations
  • Build and enhance APIs, data processing workflows, and system-to-system communication
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability in data handling, including orders, customers, pricing, and transactions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term fixes
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to support seamless user experiences and data flow
  • Work closely with support and project teams to understand real-world use cases and customer needs
  • Optimize system performance, scalability, and response times across the platform
  • Participate in code reviews, enforce best practices, and maintain high code quality standards
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and system design improvements
  • Support deployment processes, monitoring, and system health
  • Continuously improve internal tools, documentation, and development workflows
  • Help maintain a strong separation between development/staging and production environments

Required Skills & Experience

  • At least 3-4 years of experience as a software engineer
  • Experience working on Agile or Scrum development teams
  • Proven success developing modern web applications
  • Strong backend development experience, preferably with .NET / C#
  • Proficiency with .NET, MVC (Razor), MS SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and C#
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and services
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, including data modeling and query optimization
  • Experience working with Microsoft IIS and web application hosting environments
  • Working knowledge of GitHub or other version control systems
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, especially in data-driven applications
  • Ability to understand user needs and advocate for a strong, reliable user experience
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining clear communication and accountability
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, SYSPRO, etc.) a strong plus

Cultural Fit

We operate with a few core principles that guide how we build, communicate, and deliver for our customers:

Partnerships Over Projects

We don't price by project or gate capabilities behind add-ons. Our model is built around long-term partnership, where design, build, hosting, support, and ongoing updates are all included. As our customers' businesses evolve, their eCommerce platform evolves with them-new features, enhancements, and improvements are part of the relationship, not a new scope.

Break It Fast, Build It Better

We don't treat production like a sandbox. We work to prevent breakage in customer-facing environments, and when a rare issue arises, we fix it quickly and strengthen the system so it doesn't happen again. Development and staging are where we move fast, test thoroughly, and iterate aggressively-so customers experience stability, not chaos.

Control the Chaos

Things will go wrong-what matters is how we respond. We take ownership, act quickly, and stay transparent. We don't wait to be told when something's off-we're already addressing it, making decisions, and keeping things moving.

Why This Role Matters at Nomad

Core Developers are critical to Nomad's success. You'll be working on the systems that ensure our customers' businesses run smoothly-from order creation to fulfillment. Your work directly impacts reliability, performance, and customer trust.

At Nomad, we value people who take ownership, solve problems thoughtfully, and build systems that last.
