Tech Lead - Data Engineering & BI (Insurance)
Location: Edison, NJ / Remote

Job Summary
Futran Solutions is seeking a Tech Lead - Data Engineering & BI to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable data platform solutions. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership and stakeholder collaboration, ensuring high-quality data engineering and business intelligence outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines, data models, and BI solutions on Azure
  • Provide architecture guidance for ADF, ADLS Gen2, Databricks, Denodo, and SQL
  • Establish coding standards and conduct code reviews
  • Troubleshoot complex data platform issues

Team & Delivery Management
  • Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers and BI Developers
  • Manage sprint planning, task allocation, and Agile ceremonies
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of projects

Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work with Business Analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Engage business users to validate solutions and drive adoption
  • Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions effectively

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF): pipeline design, orchestration, triggers
  • Azure Data Platform: ADLS Gen2, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL
  • Databricks: PySpark, Spark SQL, Delta Lake
  • Denodo: data virtualization and performance tuning
  • SQL: advanced querying, optimization, and data modeling

Experience
  • 7-10 years in data engineering/analytics
  • 3+ years of hands-on Azure data platform experience
  • 2+ years leading data/BI teams
  • Experience working in Agile environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Familiarity with dbt or similar tools
  • Knowledge of data governance tools (Purview, Collibra)
  • Experience in Finance or P&C Insurance domains
  • Azure certifications
