What is a remote deep learning engineer?

A Remote Deep Learning Engineer is a professional who works primarily online to design, develop, and implement deep learning models and algorithms. These engineers use neural networks and large datasets to solve complex problems in fields like computer vision, natural language processing, and more. Working remotely, they collaborate with team members via digital tools, write code, optimize models, and often deploy solutions to cloud environments. This role requires strong programming skills, experience with deep learning frameworks (like TensorFlow or PyTorch), and the ability to work independently in a distributed team setting.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote deep learning engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Deep Learning Engineer, you need a strong background in machine learning, deep learning frameworks, and programming languages like Python, usually supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP), and version control systems is typically required, with certifications in AI or cloud technologies being advantageous. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills make candidates stand out in remote environments. These skills and qualities are essential for developing effective AI solutions, collaborating across distributed teams, and driving innovation in the fast-evolving field of deep learning.

How do remote deep learning engineers typically collaborate with cross-functional teams despite working remotely?

Remote Deep Learning Engineers frequently collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and software engineers using digital tools such as Slack, Zoom, and collaborative code platforms like GitHub. Regular virtual meetings and sprint planning sessions help ensure alignment on project goals and milestones. Clear documentation and asynchronous communication are crucial for effective teamwork, especially when team members are in different time zones. This collaborative structure enables remote engineers to contribute meaningfully to model development, deployment, and integration while maintaining flexibility.

What is the difference between Remote Deep Learning Engineer vs Remote Machine Learning Engineer?

Job description

Why should you consider joining Auvik?
  • You want to work at a company that is building impactful, relevant technology. Auvik's network management software helps IT teams by automating time-consuming tasks, streamlining operations, and mitigating risk. It's more important than ever to be able to remotely monitor and manage network infrastructure, and with Auvik, IT professionals have that essential visibility and control.
  • You want to work with a leadership team who are transparent and trustworthy. Our senior leaders have a vision for Auvik. They are experienced, knowledgeable, approachable, and consistently working hard to drive success, both for the company and the team of people who make it happen.
  • You want to work with a product customers love. People rave about what we've built. Our customers are smart, aspirational, and highly technical. It pays to get the details right.
  • You want regular opportunities for learning and growth. With ongoing feedback from leadership, you'll find that Auvik encourages you to be your very best. Our onboarding process is thorough and informative because we want to make sure you're prepared to have a great work experience. What's this role about?

As a software engineer at Auvik, you'll be part of an agile team of coders, developing a network management service that monitors millions of devices, while solving big challenges for our customers. Drawing on your love of developing creative solutions, your can-do attitude, and your drive to do great work, you'll help Auvik continue to build software our customers can rely on.

What will I be doing?

The industry is shifting towards cloud based systems and distributed work environments. We need senior software developers like yourself to level up on our product offerings. In this role, you will:

  • Focus on designing architectures for microservices that are consistent, scalable, high quality and tolerant to faults and failures.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Design and implement protocols for communication in a highly scalable, distributed system.
  • Develop reliable and performant code for our collector deployed at tens of thousands of customer sites.
  • Develop tooling using information from Netflow, Syslog, and other networking standards.
  • Help expand the depth and breadth of our solution based on your deep knowledge of networking devices and protocols.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product management to deliver software components to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Apply AI-enabled techniques to solve complex engineering problems, using intelligent tooling, automation, and data-informed debugging to build scalable systems, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery across the stack.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience developing quality code and architectures preferably using or Golang or Javascript).
  • Background in  designing and developing microservices.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing, preferably AWS.
  • Adept in building reliable, highly available, and scalable software on top of the Kafka streaming platform.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies such as scrum.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipeline to test and deploy.
  • Passion for mentoring and guiding junior and intermediate team members.
  • Enthusiasm towards researching new technologies and making recommendations based on experiences and findings.
  • Accountability towards following processes and making suggestions for improvements.
  • Desire to collaboratively create elegant, scalable, modern, code that evolves our products.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to work collaboratively with the immediate team and the larger organization.

We're actively hiring for this role and looking to bring someone great onto the team as soon as possible.
About Auvik

Auvik delivers cloud-based network management software that gives IT teams instant visibility and control over their infrastructure - whether on-site, remote, or dispersed across global networks. Our platform automates network discovery, mapping, monitoring, configuration backups, traffic analysis and alerting, so IT professionals and MSPs can manage complex, multi-site environments with ease.

We're focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you're excited about this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply. We are happy to make any accommodations you may need throughout the interview process as well.

Auvik is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers applicants for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetics or any other basis forbidden under federal, provincial, or local law.

Hiring Process

At Auvik, our hiring process is designed to be personal, transparent, and human-led. Our Talent Acquisition Partners review all resumes, connect with candidates whose skills and experience aligns with the role, and stay in communication with you throughout your journey. If our interests align, you'll meet with a hiring manager, as well as additional members of the hiring team in follow-up conversations. All of your interviews will take place via Zoom.

Before meeting with a hiring manager, we also ask candidates to complete a 5-minute Predictive Index (PI) assessment. This helps us understand and match your strengths and work preferences with roles that will set you up for success.

We use AI tools to support administrative tasks in the hiring process; such as helping source candidates, drafting communications, and interview summaries, so our team can stay focused and present during conversations. We do not use AI tools to interview, screen or assess candidates; or determine who moves forward in the process. We debrief and consider the full context of every conversation before making hiring decisions. We believe hiring requires judgment that can be augmented but, not replaced by AI.
