Data Engineer

Overview

Our client is seeking a Data Engineer with extensive DataStage, SQL and ETL experience.

In this role you'll join a fast-paced Enterprise Technology and Operations team within a highly regulated financial services environment. This role focuses on developing and supporting enterprise-grade data platforms that enable scalable, data-driven solutions across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical engineering skills, experience working with modern data platforms, and the ability to collaborate across both technical and business teams.


This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, supporting high-availability systems, and contributing within an Agile delivery environment.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy enterprise-grade data platforms and data-driven solutions
  • Automate and maintain scalable infrastructure and platform services
  • Ensure delivery and support of highly available and scalable systems
  • Monitor applications and infrastructure to maintain optimal performance and uptime
  • Research, evaluate, and test emerging technologies and tools
  • Analyze business requirements and design technical solutions
  • Troubleshoot application and system issues across data environments
  • Identify, investigate, and recommend solutions to technical problems
  • Develop, test, and enhance software to improve efficiency of data platforms and applications
  • Provide technical support and production support as needed
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog grooming, demos, and PI planning
  • Support QA and testing efforts across various data initiatives
  • Coordinate production deployments with data operations teams
  • Collaborate with project managers and scrum masters to remove delivery impediments
  • Participate in on-call or production support rotations
  • Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • Experience working with ETL processes and data integration solutions
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Experience working in UNIX/Linux environments
  • Exposure to Big Data or distributed data systems
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java and/or Python
  • Experience with orchestration, scheduling, or workflow automation tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
