We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer - DevOps & Engineering Tools to join our agile team! In this role you will deploy, administer, and support new and existing enterprise-wide COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) software engineering and DevSecOps applications, leveraging containerized solutions (where possible) to optimize deployments and administration across our classified and unclassified environments.  You will join a diverse, regionally distributed team supporting core Software Configuration Management (SWCM) and build capabilities. Additionally, you will drive software modernization and cloud adoption by partnering with engineering teams to migrate legacy technologies to container-based, cloud-hosted, Git-based solutions.

The position is remote but may require occasional travel to on-site locations to support programs in the following cities/regions: El Segundo CA, Dallas, TX, Tucson AZ, or Boston Area.

What You Will Do

  • Deploy, sustain, and support enterprise shared software applications across on‑premise and cloud environments using DevSecOps principles
  • Develop and maintain software deployment automation, container orchestration scripts, and infrastructure‑as‑code templates
  • Configure, harden, and maintain the cybersecurity and compliance posture of all hosted solutions
  • Assist engineering teams with supporting, optimizing, and integrating software build/test pipelines
  • Resolve application service incidents and collaborate with Level‑1 helpdesk teams to create internal knowledge base articles
  • Partner with engineering stakeholders to plan and execute migrations from legacy systems to modern platforms
  • Develop enterprise-grade solution architectures and present performance metrics and demonstrations to leadership
  • Collaborate with programs and stakeholder groups to align and support application deployments
  • Implement and maintain service monitoring scripts and tools to streamline operations and maximize uptime

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • Experience deploying and supporting server-based hosted COTS applications and associated databases in an enterprise environment.  Applications such as GITLAB, Jira, Azure Devops Server, Jenkins, etc.
  • Linux system administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience using Docker and/or Podman.
  • Experience with troubleshooting commercial server-based application installs, associated databases, networking issues, and Web/HTTP concepts (SSL, certificates, proxy, REST) to resolve application configuration issues.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Strong communication, organizational, and people skills with the ability to multi-task, support multiple customers, and to work within specific schedule and cost constraints.
  • Experience deploying or administering Jira, GitLab, and/or Azure DevOps Server.
  • Ability to troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines/code in Jenkins, Azure, or GitLab.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, Tanzu, or similar technologies.
  • Experience using tools like Ansible, Chef, or Terraform.
  • Ability to develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, and/or PERL.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications in cloud tenants (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of vulnerability remediation, disaster recovery, data spill remediation, FIPS compliance, SSL/TLS, and SELinux.
  • Windows system administration experience and experience administering Java-based applications.
  • Strong understanding and implementation experience with SCRUM, Lean, Agile, or Scaled Agile (SAFe) frameworks
