Job description

Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Oncology (Skin Cancers)Territory: Central and Western United StatesRole Overview

The MSL, Oncology (Skin Cancers) will join a fast-growing Field Medical Affairs team focused on commercializing the novel Signatera™ molecular residual disease (MRD) test. This role is dedicated to supporting oncologists and cancer researchers across solid tumors—with a primary emphasis on skin cancers—alongside complementary products and services within Natera's oncology portfolio.

In 2019, the FDA designated Signatera as a Breakthrough Device, and Medicare proposed coverage for its use in patients with Stage II–III colorectal cancer as its first indication. We are seeking a smart, mission-oriented Medical Affairs professional who can communicate effectively to help transform the management of cancer worldwide. The MSL serves as a vital field-based scientific resource for clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Scientific Presentation: Deliver high-impact scientific and clinical presentations on Natera's oncology products, specifically relevant to skin cancers.

  • Information Support: Address the specific needs of customers by responding to requests for information about marketed and developing products across solid tumors.

  • Internal Collaboration: Serve as a medical and scientific resource for Natera Sales and Marketing teams, including participation in scientific updates and training with an emphasis on skin cancer data.

  • KOL Engagement: Identify, develop, and manage collaborative working relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in oncology, including dermatologists, surgeons, and medical oncology specialists.

  • Research & Trials: Develop research collaborations with leading KOLs; assist with registry study enrollment and the management of Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs) in solid tumors and skin cancer.

  • Content Development: Review and develop educational materials and slide content for healthcare providers and patients—incorporating tumor-type–specific scientific context—subject to approval by Medical Affairs and Marketing.

  • Events & Symposia: Assist in agenda planning and facilitation for Clinical Advisory Boards and Symposia involving cutaneous oncology experts.

  • Compliance: Work regularly with Protected Health Information (PHI) in both paper and electronic forms, utilizing secure technologies to perform responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree: Health care professionals with relevant clinical sciences knowledge in oncology (e.g., Pharm.D, Ph.D., M.D., or DNP).

  • Professional Experience: Prior MSL experience is highly preferred.

  • Specialization: Prior involvement with cutaneous oncology or clinical laboratory tests (molecular diagnostics) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Communication: Independent thinker and persuasive communicator with an outgoing and confident demeanor.

  • Relationship Building: Proven experience establishing strong, collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, R&D) and external oncology customers.

  • Presentation Skills: Outstanding oral presentation skills, particularly when conveying complex scientific concepts related to solid tumors.

  • Autonomy: Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining a strong teamwork ethic.

  • Scientific Acumen: Strong knowledge of molecular biology and clinical oncology; familiarity with the cutaneous cancer treatment landscape is a significant plus.

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
