Remote Data Infrastructure information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Data Infrastructure Engineer, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Data Infrastructure Engineer, you need a strong background in computer science, data architecture, and experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Familiarity with tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, and data pipeline technologies, as well as relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect), is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, clear communication, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for remote collaboration and troubleshooting. These competencies ensure reliable, scalable data systems and effective teamwork across distributed environments.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote data infrastructure roles?

Professionals in remote data infrastructure roles often encounter challenges such as ensuring seamless communication across distributed teams, maintaining high availability and performance of data systems, and managing security risks associated with remote access. Coordinating with colleagues across different time zones can require flexibility in scheduling and proactive communication. Additionally, remote data infrastructure engineers must stay up-to-date with evolving cloud technologies and best practices to effectively support scalable, reliable, and secure data architectures.

What is remote data infrastructure?

Remote data infrastructure refers to the systems, tools, and processes that enable organizations to collect, store, manage, and analyze data from remote locations, often via cloud-based platforms. This infrastructure allows teams to access and work with data securely from anywhere, supporting distributed work environments and scalable data solutions. It typically involves cloud storage, data pipelines, databases, and security protocols tailored for remote accessibility. Remote data infrastructure is essential for businesses that operate in multiple locations or have remote teams.

Job description

Confidential Search | Remote / Hybrid (Houston, TX Area)

We are representing a high-growth technology partner currently scaling their core engineering and data infrastructure teams. We are seeking elite React Developers and Data Engineers who specialize in high-performance, real-time architectures.

These roles are critical to building a scalable, AI-ready platform. We are looking for "builders" who prioritize clean, type-safe code and modern observability.

Option A: React Developer (Frontend & Mobile)

You will lead the development of high-performance user interfaces across web and mobile platforms, ensuring a seamless, low-latency experience.

  • Core Technical Requirements:
    • TypeScript Mastery: Expert-level proficiency is non-negotiable; you must leverage advanced types for safety and scalability.
    • Modern Build Tools: Experience with Vite for rapid development and optimized production builds.
    • Architecture: Deep understanding of React Server Components and their impact on performance.
    • State Management: Heavy experience with TanStack Query (React Query) for server state or Zustand for lightweight client state.
    • Performance Optimization: Proven track record of reducing bundle sizes and optimizing core web vitals.
    • Mobile Context: Strong React Native expertise is highly preferred for cross-platform feature parity.

Option B: Data Engineer (Infrastructure & Real-Time)

You will architect the backbone of our data ecosystem, moving beyond batch processing to build a truly AI-ready, observable data environment.

  • Core Technical Requirements:
    • The Modern Data Stack: Mastery of Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow for robust transformation and orchestration.
    • Coding & Querying: Advanced Python and SQL skills for complex pipeline logic.
    • Real-Time Data: Hands-on experience building streaming pipelines using Kafka or Flink (moving beyond traditional "old-school" batch processing).
    • Observability: A focus on "AI-Readiness"—ensuring data quality, lineage, and observability are baked into the infrastructure from day one.

Who You Are:

  • You prefer direct, high-efficiency environments where technical excellence is the primary metric.
  • You have a growth mindset and stay ahead of the curve regarding evolving frameworks and data paradigms.
  • You value transparency and are comfortable working on confidential, high-stakes projects.

To Apply: Please submit your resume and a brief summary of your experience with either React Server Components or Real-Time Streaming (Kafka/Flink).
