Job description

ABOUT VITALIEF
Vitalief is a clinical research consulting firm focused exclusively on the clinical research industry, providing consulting, staffing, and technology-enabled services to academic medical centers, health systems, sponsors, CROs, and site networks. By combining deep subject matter expertise with the experience of senior research practitioners, we help organizations accelerate study activation, optimize operations, improve financial performance, and build scalable workforce solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiency, and advance clinical breakthroughs for patients.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Vitalief is seeking an experienced Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to support a vascular/cardiovascular medical device clinical study for a leading New Jersey health system. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced CRC seeking flexible, remote, part-time work with the potential for increased hours and eventual transition to a full-time, fully benefited Vitalief position as the study expands.

  • Meaningful Work: Support innovative cardiovascular medical device research with the potential to improve patient care.
  • Initial Workload: Approximately 2 to 4 patients enrolled per month, with 10 to 12 hours of work per enrolled patient (approximately 20 to 40 hours per month).
  • Flexible Schedule: Hours will vary based on patient enrollment and surgical procedures.
  • Remote Flexibility: Most study coordination activities can be performed remotely, including patient enrollment within 48 hours following surgery.
  • Growth Opportunity: The study is initially at one hospital and is expected to expand to three additional sites, increasing patient volume and CRC responsibilities.
  • Competitive Pay: $40 to $45/hour, based on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary Clinical Research Coordinator for the study and work closely with the Principal Investigator and health system research team.
  • Identify, screen, and enroll eligible patients following their vascular heart medical device procedure.
  • Conduct remote patient enrollment within 48 hours following surgery, as permitted by the study protocol.
  • Conduct participant follow-up activities, including health status and other study-related calls.
  • Review patient medical records in EPIC to support eligibility determination and clinical data collection.
  • Complete electronic case report forms (eCRFs), perform accurate and timely data entry, and resolve data queries.
  • Maintain accurate source documentation and ensure study records are complete and up to date.
  • Maintain essential regulatory documentation, including investigator files, training records, licenses, and delegation logs.
  • Support IRB submissions, continuing reviews, amendments, and regulatory correspondence as needed.
  • Communicate with sponsors, CROs, investigators, IRBs, and internal research teams as needed.
  • Support monitoring activities, site meetings, issue resolution, and study closeout activities.
  • Help maintain study readiness and ensure timely completion of required study activities.
  • Manage work independently and adjust priorities based on patient enrollment, surgical schedules, and study requirements.
  • As additional hospital sites are added, support the expansion and coordination of study activities across multiple locations.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in health science, life science, nursing, clinical research, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical research coordination experience supporting observational and/or interventional clinical trials.
  • Clinical research experience involving medical devices, cardiovascular/vascular studies, registries, or observational research preferred.
  • Experience with patient screening, informed consent, enrollment, and participant follow-up.
  • Experience using EPIC to review patient medical records, support patient eligibility, and facilitate clinical data collection.
  • Experience completing eCRFs, performing clinical data entry, and resolving data queries.
  • Experience maintaining regulatory documentation and supporting IRB submissions.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and clinical research regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical research databases/CTMS systems.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data quality and research compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with investigators, patients, sponsors, CROs, and health system personnel.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours based on patient enrollment and surgical schedules.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, visual perception, talking and hearing.
