Position and Salary
The Attorney General's Office is recruiting for a permanent full time IT Data Management - Entry level in the Information Services Division. This position is located in Tumwater, Washington, and is not union-represented.
IT Data Management - Entry level Salary Range (02IT): $69,072 - $92,904 (7/1/2026) annually
The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
The following stipends may apply based on position requirements:
  • Incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.
  • Incumbents assigned to a position designated as requiring dual language skills will receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend.

About the Information Services Division
The Information Services Division (ISD) provides strategic technology leadership, support and consulting for legal technologies and platforms.
ISD leads the design, development, and delivery of all AGO technology systems and applications, including enterprise infrastructure, voice services and secure network environments. The division also maintains the operations of software and cloud platforms (private and public) to provide AGO staff access to their confidential work product and communications, ensuring solutions are tailored to the AGO's unique legal and operational needs.
ISD has multiple units that provide project management and business analysis service, electronic library services, custom software development, business intelligence, data management services, and eDiscovery litigation technical support. Through rigorous governance and cybersecurity controls, ISD ensures compliance with state governance policies/standards and that all technology services function properly and securely.
Duties and Essential Functions of an IT Data Management - Entry position
This position applies basic technical programming knowledge to evaluate and develop SQL Server application based solutions and interfaces; developing and implementing use cases.
Responsible for collecting business and user requirements, resulting in documented user stories and product backlog items; designing and producing solutions which meet those requirements and functionality testing scenarios to demonstrate compliance with defined acceptance criteria.
This position uses an iterative/agile development methodology, innovation, and creativity to complete assignments.
Typical duties of this position include:
  • Perform SQL Server application installation, configuration, patching, upgrading, and tuning.
  • Provide data management operational support for all agency SQL Server applications and databases.
  • Perform SQL Server database administration, performance, and capacity monitoring.
  • Provide application performance recommendations related to SQL Server access.
  • Perform software updates in alignment with established security guidelines and policies.
  • Provide database authentication services, processes, and inter-application database security.
  • Provide system analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation services for new database applications.
  • Provide advanced Excel/Pivot Table and/or other data access solutions.
  • Perform data conversions (CSV, Excel, etc.) into or out of SQL Server databases.
  • Assists in interagency data downloads and transformations that support agency applications.
  • Provide problem resolution and business continuity.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for databases and applications.
  • Provide SQL coding reviews and recommendations for consistency, security, functionality, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to development teams during database design reviews.
  • Peer review and deploy custom developed SQL code.

Required Qualifications
Six (6) years of professional experience such as database administration, data analytics, dashboard development, developing software, analyzing, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware that use and rely on databases.

An Associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field, and at least four (4) years of experience such as database administration, data analytics, dashboard development, developing software, analyzing, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications that use and rely on databases.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field; and at least two (2) years of experience such as database administration, data analytics, dashboard development, developing software, analyzing, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications that use rely on databases.
