Job description

Calling your doctor shouldn't be harder than seeing your doctor. But at most practices, patients wait on hold, front-office staff drown in ring queues, and revenue walks out the door with every missed call.
Transform9 builds AI agents that answer every call for physician practices - scheduling appointments, routing callers, and resolving routine requests in seconds, around the clock. Our agents integrate directly with each practice's EHR, practice management, and phone systems, and adapt to how their front office actually works.
Our agents have handled millions of patient calls for thousands of providers, cut average hold times by 90%, and decreased call abandonment by 80%. We're headquartered in Birmingham, AL, and growing fast.
About the role
Transform9's voice agents are only as useful as the data they can access and act on. The Integrations team owns the connections between Transform9 and the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems that healthcare practices run on. You'll design and build the integration layer that lets our agents read schedules, create appointments, and interact with patient records - reliably, securely, and in real time.
What you'll do
  • Design and build integrations between Transform9's platform and EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Modernizing Medicine, and others)
  • Develop and maintain the APIs, data pipelines, and middleware that enable real-time data exchange between Transform9 and practice management systems
  • Own integration reliability - build robust error handling, retry logic, and monitoring for critical data flows
  • Work closely with the Core Platform team to surface EHR data where and when voice agents need it
  • Develop integration code that meets HIPAA and healthcare data security standards
  • Document integration patterns and support Customer Success during new practice onboarding
  • Debug and resolve integration issues in production with urgency and precision
Location
Remote (US). If you're in the Birmingham, AL area, this role is hybrid from our office (3 days in office / 2 remote).
Requirements
  • 4-8 years building software integrations, APIs, or data pipelines in production environments
  • Experience integrating with at least one major EMR/EHR platform (Epic, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or equivalent backend stack
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HL7/FHIR standards, and healthcare data formats
  • Solid grasp of data mapping, transformation, and error handling patterns
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements for data handling and transmission
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple integration workstreams
Nice to have
  • Experience with HL7 v2, CDA/CCDA, or SMART on FHIR
  • Background in health IT, medical billing, or practice management systems
  • Experience with event-driven integration patterns or message queues
  • API gateway or middleware platform experience (MuleSoft, Boomi, or custom)

Benefits
  • Top-tier health coverage: medical, dental & vision
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off + holidays, and paid parental leave

If you want to fix the front door of healthcare, we'd love to hear from you.
