Job description

The M&A IT integration leader will provide strategic guidance with regards to IT integration efforts to Humana's corporate development team and integration management office (IMO) on all growth opportunities (M&As, Divestitures, Joint Ventures (JVs), and Minority Investments). This position is a direct report to the AVP, IT M&A, and will work closely with senior executives, corporate development team, IMO, acquired company representatives, and internal cross-functional IT teams in evaluating potential target companies and in the development and implementation of IT integration plans.

This role will be remote but the hired candidate must reside within commutable distance of one of our office locations in the following areas: Louisville, KY, Ft. Lauderdale/Tampa, Florida, Dallas/Frisco, TX, or DC/Baltimore, MD.

The ideal and successful candidate will have direct M&A integration experience. This is not a project or program management role.

Key Responsibilities:

IT Due Diligence

  • Lead IT due diligence activities across mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic investments, assessing technology platforms, infrastructure, applications, data, cybersecurity, operating models, and IT organization capabilities.

  • Identify integration risks, operational dependencies, technology constraints, and value-creation opportunities that may impact deal structure, execution, or synergy realization.

  • Develop IT integration cost estimates and investment models spanning infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, applications, data, and end-user technologies.

  • Evaluate target-state integration approaches and define high-level IT integration hypotheses aligned to the transaction strategy.

  • Partner with Corporate Development, Legal, the Integration Management Office (IMO), and target company leadership to inform transition services agreements (TSAs) and separation planning activities.

  • Provide concise executive-level updates, recommendations, and risk assessments to senior business and IT leaders throughout the diligence process.

  • Establish trusted relationships with executive stakeholders, effectively influencing decisions and aligning diverse interests across internal and external parties.

IT Integration Planning & Execution

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of people, processes, technology, data, cybersecurity, and vendor landscapes to identify integration gaps, risks, and opportunities.

  • Develop and manage end-to-end IT integration plans, including Day 1 readiness, Day 1+ execution, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, and synergy initiatives.

  • Ensure IT integration strategies align with transaction objectives, business priorities, value drivers, compliance requirements, and expected synergies.

  • Lead day-to-day integration execution across cross-functional IT teams, driving accountability, issue resolution, decision-making, and milestone achievement.

  • Manage the transition and integration of technology assets, contracts, vendors, applications, infrastructure, and IT personnel as required by the transaction.

  • Proactively identify, mitigate, and escalate risks while partnering with business leaders, IMO, and technical teams to resolve complex operational and technical challenges.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive stakeholder engagement and communication strategies, ensuring transparency, alignment, and change adoption across executive leadership, business teams, and acquired organizations.

  • Partner with IT Finance to develop, manage, and track integration budgets, synergy targets, and investment commitments.

IT Integration Governance & Process Excellence

  • Continuously enhance IT M&A methodologies, governance frameworks, tools, playbooks, and best practices based on lessons learned and evolving business needs.

  • Serve as a change leader by articulating transaction objectives, integration strategy, and value realization goals to stakeholders across Humana and acquired organizations.

  • Lead IT integration governance forums and steering committees, facilitating executive decision-making regarding priorities, risks, resources, and strategic outcomes.

  • Drive effective executive communications through status reporting, risk management reviews, steering committee materials, and leadership presentations.

Integration Results & Value Realization

  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics that measure integration progress, synergy realization, operational stability, and business value delivery.

  • Analyze integration performance against planned objectives and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

  • Document lessons learned and institutionalize best practices to improve future M&A integration efforts.

  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and strategic updates on integration progress, outcomes, risks, and value realization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

  • 8+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Enterprise applications and systems integration, architecture or technology transformation initiatives

    • Infrastructure, networking, and end-user computing

    • Cloud platforms and migration programs (Azure, AWS, or GCP)

    • Cybersecurity, identity and access management, and risk management

    • Data management, analytics, and information governance

    • IT program/project delivery in large, complex organizations

  • 3+ years of experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, business transformations, or large-scale enterprise integration initiatives.

  • 2+ years of project, program, or cross-functional team leadership experience developing technology roadmaps, integration strategies, business cases, and executive-level presentations.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate effectively with executive leadership, technical teams, external partners, and acquired company representatives.

  • Strong understanding of IT governance, technology risk management, cybersecurity principles, and enterprise architecture concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

The following qualifications would distinguish an exceptional candidate:

Direct IT M&A Leadership Experience

  • 5+ years leading IT due diligence, integration, or separation activities across mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or joint ventures, preferably within a highly regulated industry such as healthcare, financial services, or insurance.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.

  • Experience integrating enterprise platforms such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Azure AD (Entra ID), Salesforce, ServiceNow, ERP systems, or healthcare technology platforms.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, identity management, data migration, and application rationalization activities.

  • Experience using portfolio, project, and integration management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, Clarity, or ServiceNow.

Relevant Professional Certifications

  • One or more of the following:

    • Project Management Professional (PMP)

    • TOGAF Certified

    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

    • Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent cloud certification.

Work-At-Home Requirements
To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
