Education Specialist
Reports To: Education Manager
Salary Band: Coordinator/Specialist


Position Summary


The Education Specialist supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of SCCM educational activities that advance critical care practice and contribute to improved patient outcomes. Working closely with SCCM staff, volunteer leadership, members, and external partners, this role assists with educational program planning, content development, project coordination, implementation, evaluation, and learner engagement across live, virtual, licensed, and other educational formats.


The Education Specialist collaborates across departments to coordinate educational activities, maintain program data and documentation, support volunteer engagement, assist with educational product development, and ensure timely execution of projects. This position serves as an important operational partner in delivering high-quality education that meets learner needs and organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities


I. Education Program Development and Support
Collaborate with the Education Manager, volunteer leadership, and committees to identify member educational needs and support educational program planning and implementation.
Assist in the development, revision, and maintenance of educational content and learning resources.
Support the implementation of educational activities across multiple delivery formats, including live, virtual, hybrid, and on-demand learning.
Maintain awareness of emerging trends in critical care education and adult learning methodologies.
Assist with the development of educational tools, resources, and learner support materials.


II. Educational Operations, Assessment, and Data Management
Partner with assessment and education staff to support integration of learning and assessment components within educational programs.
Maintain educational activity records, databases, reports, and documentation.
Assist with program evaluation activities, learner feedback collection, and outcomes reporting.
Support data collection and analysis efforts used to improve educational programming and learner engagement.
Ensure educational materials, records, and supporting documentation are accurate and current.


III. Program Implementation and Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordinate educational project activities and timelines to support successful program delivery.
Collaborate with meetings, marketing, communications, finance, and other SCCM departments to support educational initiatives.
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of educational program budgets.
Support faculty, committee, and volunteer communications related to educational activities.
Help ensure educational program milestones, deadlines, and deliverables are achieved.


IV. Learning Products and Educational Resources
Collaborate with staff and volunteers in the development of educational materials and promotional copy.
Support the creation and maintenance of learner resources and educational products.
Assist with course updates and content preparation for live and enduring educational offerings.
Partner with eLearning and other internal teams to support effective learner experiences and educational delivery.


V. Team Collaboration and Organizational Support
Build productive working relationships with SCCM staff, volunteer leaders, faculty, and external partners.
Contribute actively to team planning, problem-solving, communication, and continuous improvement efforts.
Demonstrate strong customer service and responsiveness in supporting members, volunteers, and internal stakeholders.
Support departmental and organizational priorities through effective collaboration and project execution.


VI. Other Functions as Required to CarryOut SCCM's Mission and Goals


Qualifications and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
One to three years of experience supporting educational programs, professional development activities, or related initiatives.
Project coordination and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver projects and programs successfully.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in a technology-oriented, remote work environment.
Background in a medical association, healthcare, nonprofit, or professional society environment preferred.
Working knowledge of volunteer committees, faculty, or subject matter experts preferred.
