On behalf of our Energy client, Procom is searching for a Data Center Field Service Engineer (Transformer-Specific) for a permanent role. This position is a remote position with occasional travel required to our client's Raleigh, North Carolina office.
Data Center Field Service Engineer (Transformer-Specific) - Job Description:
Field Service Engineers for Data Centers play a vital role in transformer lifecycle management. You'll apply your technical skills to support critical infrastructure like data centers and utility networks, working directly with advanced transformer technology and integrated hardware-software solutions to ensure grid reliability and efficiency. This position goes beyond fieldwork-it's an opportunity to build customer relationships, identify service needs, and help improve energy systems.
Data Center Field Service Engineer (Transformer-Specific) - Responsibilities:
• Deliver remote and on-site service for installation, maintenance, and advanced support.
• Install transformer hardware, sensors, and accessories.
• Configure and validate physical communication connectivity.
• Integrate and test transformer software, including firmware upgrades.
• Serve as the on-site contact for customers and subcontractors.
• Strategically assign tasks to reduce costs and project time.
• Test SEL relays using Omicron relay test sets or equivalent.
• Employ standard industrial communication protocols, including Modbus and BACnet.
• Perform protection relay testing at specified settings using an Omicron relay test set or comparable equipment.
• Conduct electrical tests on transformers, such as bushing power factor and capacitance, core megger, TTR, winding resistance, insulation power factor, and insulation resistance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Data Center Field Service Engineer (Transformer-Specific) - Mandatory Skills:
• Associate degree with 3 years of professional experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of professional experience
• Physically fit for duty and fieldwork
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 85%
• Work authorization permitting employment for Hitachi Energy in the United States
Data Center Field Service Engineer (Transformer-Specific) - Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience in data center fieldwork
• Familiarity with SEL relays and Omicron relay test sets
