ABOUT THIS ROLE
Carrier is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to oversee our scope of work in data center construction projects. This role is responsible for the startup, commissioning, and field modifications of Carrier air- and water-cooled chillers. The Project Manager will work closely with internal and external teams including engineering, factory operations, field service, commissioning authorities, general contractors, and subcontractors.
The primary job sites are located in the West South-Central region of the United States including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana and the surrounding area. Travel from a nearby regional home location is acceptable. Please note that extensive travel for onsite construction project management outside this geography may be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Execution & Management
  • Lead startup, commissioning, and field modification processes for Carrier air- and water-cooled chillers in newly constructed data centers.

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, ensuring schedules and budgets are met.

  • Track and review key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project success.

  • Conduct progress meetings with stakeholders, addressing design, material delivery, and labor schedules.

  • Ensure all projects meet or exceed booked profit margin goals.

  • Work with project coordination to order and track all chiller parts needed for warranty execution.

Stakeholder & Customer Coordination
  • Collaborate with sales, prime contractors, and end-users to fulfill project scope and deliverables.

  • Serve as the primary liaison representing Carrier between the customer, commissioning authority, general contractor, and subcontractors, ensuring smooth communication and project progression.

  • Provide professional, timely resolution for customer concerns, ensuring satisfaction with all aspects of project execution.

  • Technical Expertise & Compliance

  • Interpret and apply mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications.

  • Ensure adherence to industry codes, standards, and project specifications.

  • Apply working knowledge of Building Automation System (BAS) integration to ensure proper controls functionality.

  • Manage the change order process, preventing scope creep and maintaining project integrity.

Financial & Operational Oversight
  • Accurately forecast monthly revenue by estimating project completion costs.

  • Manage project documentation, including warranty processing and factory-generated service information in collaboration with our Service Engineering team.

  • Maintain rigorous job safety standards across all projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 5+ years of experience in project management coordinating project schedules, deliverables, and activities involving multiple stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and/or customers; OR 4+ years of experience supporting mechanical, electrical, controls, commissioning, construction, or field service projects.

  • 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints and technical mechanical systems documents.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% of the time within the USA as required by business needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering; or a Master's degree/MBA.

  • Data center industry experience with water- or air-cooled chillers.

  • Commercial HVAC expertise, including centrifugal chillers, Cooling Distribution Unit systems, and airside equipment.

  • Projection Management Professional certification.

  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification or experience with Building Automation Systems

  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Proven strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Strong ability to build rapport and trust with customers through active listening and effective solutions.

Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
Other Compensation
This position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
