Job description

Job Title: Senior Data Architect

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Remote within Canada with occasional onsite meetings)
Contract Duration: 12 Months

Project Overview

The Senior Data Architect will support a large-scale Justice Information Management modernization initiative focused on consolidating multiple court-reporting data marts into a centralized Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The project aims to improve data governance, reporting efficiency, historical data preservation, and enterprise-wide access to court-related information.

The successful candidate will play a key role in data architecture, data modeling, ETL development, data integration, warehouse design, and business intelligence reporting while supporting enterprise architecture standards and best practices.

Work Arrangement
  • Primarily Remote (Work must be performed within Canada)
  • Approximately 15% onsite attendance in Edmonton, Alberta may be required
  • Travel expenses are not reimbursable
  • Candidate must provide their own computer, software, and office equipment

Key ResponsibilitiesData Architecture & Strategy
  • Define and manage enterprise data architecture principles, standards, frameworks, and strategies.
  • Design scalable enterprise data warehouse and data mart solutions.
  • Develop future-state data architecture roadmaps and transition plans.
  • Promote data governance, data quality, and data-sharing best practices.
  • Identify and document enterprise data requirements.
Data Warehouse & Data Modeling
  • Review and analyze existing legacy data marts.
  • Perform detailed data profiling and source system analysis.
  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Design dimensions, facts, and data mappings for enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Update existing data models to support new business requirements.
  • Develop enterprise database architecture documentation.
ETL & Data Integration
  • Design, develop, and test ETL processes.
  • Stage and transform source data into enterprise warehouse structures.
  • Develop mapping specifications and transformation rules.
  • Support data migration and integration activities.
  • Perform quality assurance testing for facts and dimensions.
Business Intelligence & Reporting
