Remote Data Analyst R Programming information

What is a remote data analyst r programming?

A Remote Data Analyst R Programming is a professional who analyzes and interprets data using the R programming language while working from a remote location. Their primary responsibilities include collecting, cleaning, and visualizing data, as well as performing statistical analyses to help organizations make data-driven decisions. These analysts often collaborate with teams online and use R to automate processes, generate reports, and create predictive models. Remote work allows them flexibility and access to a wider range of employers, while R provides powerful tools for handling complex data tasks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote data analyst specializing in R programming?

To thrive as a Remote Data Analyst specializing in R Programming, you need strong statistical analysis skills, proficiency in R, and a background in mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Experience with data visualization tools, databases (such as SQL), and familiarity with data science platforms or certifications like the Data Science Professional Certificate are commonly required. Effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for excelling in remote and collaborative environments. These skills ensure accurate data-driven insights, efficient workflow, and successful teamwork across distributed teams.

How does a remote data analyst specializing in r programming typically collaborate with team members across different locations?

As a Remote Data Analyst focused on R Programming, collaboration is often facilitated through digital communication tools such as Slack, Zoom, and project management platforms like Jira or Trello. Analysts regularly share scripts, data visualizations, and reports using version control systems like Git, ensuring code transparency and reproducibility. Team meetings and code reviews are scheduled to align on project goals, troubleshoot challenges, and maintain data integrity. Building strong communication skills and documenting code thoroughly are essential for effective teamwork in a remote environment.

Haven Energy

Austin, TX • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

About Haven Energy
At Haven Energy, we're on a mission to accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies by helping homeowners install solar and battery systems. We specialize in deploying battery systems to build VPPs through strategic partnerships with utilities, non-profits, and government agencies, with a particular focus on low and moderate income households. As a growing startup, we're looking for dynamic, driven professionals who want to make a real impact in the clean energy space.
Summary of Role
Haven is looking for a contract analyst to do hands-on analytical work across the business, with an expected emphasis on our marketing and sales funnel.
You'll be looking at where leads come from, where they stall, which channels and campaigns produce installs rather than just form fills, and what our real cost per acquisition looks like given a long, multi-step sales cycle. But the role isn't limited to it. We're a small team with a lot of open questions. Priorities may shift into operations, installation throughput, program performance, or wherever the most valuable question happens to be that month.
Across all of it, the common thread is the same: when the answer depends on how something is counted (e.g. what a "qualified lead" is, when a deal is really attributable to a channel, what counts as a completed install) you'll work out a defensible definition, document it, implement it in the data, and explain the reasoning in plain language.
You'll work on top of our existing stack (Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt) rather than building infrastructure. AI tooling handles much of the routine pipeline work, and our software engineers are available for harder infrastructure problems. What we need from you is analytical judgment and the ability to communicate what you find to a non-technical audience.
This is a remote contract engagement at roughly 30 hours per week. Compensation depends on experience.
What You'll Do
Analyze the conversion funnel
  • Map how leads move from first touch through qualification, sale, and install
  • Write documentation on current implementations and proposals for new analytics approaches
  • Analyze conversion rates by channel, campaign, geography, program, and customer segment
  • Evaluate channel and campaign performance against downstream outcomes (installs, revenue), not just top-of-funnel volume
  • Work out CAC and payback by channel in a way that holds up given our sales cycle and partner-driven programs

Take on analysis wherever it's most needed
  • Dig into questions from across the business including, installation throughput, program and partner performance, customer outcomes
  • Investigate specific questions as they come up, and surface things nobody thought to ask about
  • Bring a recommendation, not just a chart

Pin down how things get counted
  • Turn fuzzy questions ("is this channel working?") into precise, well-scoped metrics
  • Where teams count the same thing differently, work with them to land on one clear definition then document it and implement it in our models
  • Build the logic into dbt so the numbers are reproducible rather than living in an ad-hoc spreadsheet

Make the findings usable
  • Build and maintain the dashboards the team relies on
  • Present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Leave your work documented well enough that the team can keep using it after the engagement

Improve what we capture
  • Flag gaps in how we track leads, sources, and funnel stages in HubSpot, and recommend fixes so the data supports the analysis we want to do

You're a Great Fit If You Have
  • 4+ years in analytics, data analysis, or a hybrid data role
  • Real depth on marketing and sales funnels: you've built funnel models, worked through attribution tradeoffs, and can explain why you chose one approach over another
  • Professional, hands-on experience with SQL. You can get to the answer yourself and verify it in the data rather than hand-waving the logic underneath it
  • Comfort in a modern data stack. dbt and Git experience required
  • Range: you're comfortable being pointed at an unfamiliar part of the business and figuring out the right question
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and a talent for explaining data to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with CRM data, especially HubSpot
  • A bias toward getting to a useful answer quickly and iterating, rather than waiting for perfectly clean inputs
  • The ability to scope your own work: you'll get context and priorities from us, but not tickets
  • Experience using AI/LLM tooling (e.g., Claude Code) for analytics work

Bonus
  • Experience with long or multi-step consumer sales cycles (home improvement, solar, insurance, finance, healthcare)
  • Operations or supply chain analytics experience
  • Interest in how energy is produced and consumed

This Role May Not Be Right For You If
  • You want requirements handed to you as tickets
  • You're looking for a marketing execution role. This is analysis, not running campaigns
  • You're looking for a data-engineering engagement
  • You'd rather stay heads-down in the warehouse than talk to stakeholders about what they need
  • You want a stable, narrowly-defined scope
