Job Title: Benefits Customer Service Rep
Location: Lakewood, NJ
Type: Contract To Hire
Compensation: $25.00 - $27.00
Contractor Work Model: Onsite - Hybrid (remote work available)
Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm / Monday - Friday
Benefits Customer Service Rep Responsibilities:

  • Handle inbound calls from COBRA benefits members, employers, HR contacts, and brokers with a strong focus on clear and patient phone support
  • Assist callers with COBRA benefit notices, elections, payments, coverage questions, portal access, and general account information
  • Respond to incoming email inquiries accurately and in a timely manner
  • Perform accurate data entry for COBRA benefit enrollments, terminations, changes, payments, and related updates
  • Carefully review entries against source documents to avoid errors and unnecessary rework
  • Document calls, updates, and actions taken in the system with clear and complete notes
  • Support open enrollment by helping with increased call volume and walking employees through their benefit options
  • Provide basic phone or screen-share portal demos for new HR contacts, new clients, and employees, including how to access the portal, review benefits information, read notices, complete elections, and make payments
  • Work closely with the benefits team to resolve issues and keep members informed
  • Assist with other benefit department tasks and projects as needed
Benefits Customer Service Rep Requirements:
  • Must have prior benefits knowledge, experience processing enrollments or handling claims a HUGE plus.
  • Strong phone skills and a professional, calm manner with callers
  • Prior customer service or call center experience required
  • Benefits enrollment, insurance verifications, or medical office experience is a plus
  • Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in multiple computer systems and screens at the same time
  • Able to manage heavy call volume during open enrollment and other busy periods
  • Comfortable leading short phone or screen-share portal demos for HR contacts, new clients, and employees
  • Reliable, organized, and able to follow detailed procedures consistently
  • Strong attendance and punctuality
