Remote CTOs, or Chief Technology Officers, are executive leaders who oversee a company's technology strategy and operations while working remotely rather than on-site. They are responsible for guiding the technical vision, managing development teams, making high-level architecture decisions, and aligning technology initiatives with business goals. About the Company

In 2025, through the addition of several new business lines, Sentact expanded to form a truly unique company with the goal of strategically addressing a critical need for healthcare organizations - specifically, offering an integrated suite of solutions to encompass patient safety, quality, experience, and regulatory readiness. Our technology offering spans comprehensive rounding, event reporting and safety huddles, patient safety organization (PSO) services, complaint and grievance management, feedback and experience surveys, and credentialing and peer review. Serving a majority of the nation's largest health systems, Sentact's solutions address key operational and regulatory challenges facing healthcare leaders today, empowering them to reimagine the path to exceptional care.

About the Role

Through a combination of internal development and acquisitions, Sentact has grown to offer a broad, high-value product portfolio - much of it designed to serve distinct clinical operations needs: rounding, safety huddles, event reporting, grievance management, analytics and benchmarking. That breadth is a competitive strength, but opportunity exists to further combine these assets for customers to gain additional benefits.

The CTO will be a member of the executive leadership team and be a key contributor and stakeholder in the company's overall strategy. Importantly, we are looking for an organized, practical, results-driven candidate that takes a hands-on approach, while being able to see the big picture and effectively communicate with the company's Board of Directors.

What You'll Do

High-level objectives include: the harmonization of the technology portfolio, deploying A.I. to improve efficiency, and the management of a short and long-term roadmap designed to bring differentiated product and analytics offerings to market.

Specifically, the role will own the technology and engineering strategy, architecture, and roadmap across Sentact's full product suite.

  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering, data, and A.I. organization; add talent and best practices where needed.
  • Establish (or mature) engineering standards: cloud architecture, security, data governance, QA/testing, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery, and uptime/reliability practices appropriate for a healthcare SaaS company handling sensitive clinical and provider data.
  • Lead build-vs-buy-vs-partner decisions, including evaluation of platform consolidation, legacy system migration/sunset, and selective use of third-party or acquired technology.
  • Serve as a technical thought partner to the CEO and executive team on M&A technical due diligence, integration planning, and long-range platform strategy.
  • Support information security, data privacy, and compliance posture (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST, and similar frameworks relevant to healthcare data) in partnership with legal/compliance.
  • Represent technology strategy externally with key health system clients, prospects, and at industry forums as needed.
  • Manage technology budget, vendor relationships, and working with CFO, build the business case for platform and A.I. investment in a way the CEO and board will find credible.

What We're Looking For / Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience.10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including 4+ years as a CTO, VP Engineering, or equivalent senior technology executive, ideally in healthcare IT, health tech SaaS, or another data-intensive B2B software environment.
  • Platform unification track record. Demonstrated, hands-on success consolidating or re-platforming a multi-product portfolio (through M&A integration, technical debt reduction, or platform unification) into a coherent architecture - not just greenfield product-building.
  • AI fluency. Real, practical experience deploying AI/ML or generative AI into production products and/or internal operations, with a clear point of view on where AI creates genuine value versus hype, and how to govern it responsibly in a healthcare context.
  • Product and commercial instinct. A track record of shipping products or analytics capabilities that created measurable competitive differentiation and drove revenue, retention, or win rate.
  • Technical Requirements. Working knowledge of healthcare data, interoperability standards (e.g. HL7/FHIR), clinical workflows, and the compliance/regulatory environment (HIPAA, CMS conditions of participation, Joint Commission, etc.), React, Python, Tableau, Ruby on Rails, AWS, PHP, MySQL, Epic Clarity, and PostgreSQL.
  • Security and compliance. Experience with security and compliance programs (SOC 2, HITRUST, HIPAA) for a SaaS company serving hospitals or health systems.
  • Leadership / People Management. Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain strong engineering and data talent, and to reset culture and standards where needed.
  • Executive presence. A collaborative, low-ego operating style; comfort operating in a company backed by private equity, with the discipline and communication skills that entails; ability to translate technical strategy into a business case for non-technical executives and stakeholders.

Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to take a well-established, trusted healthcare technology company - one already serving a large share of the country's leading health systems - and shape its next chapter as a unified, AI-enabled platform. You'll be a member of the executive team, have a genuine mandate for change, and the chance to build products that materially improve patient safety and quality at scale.
