Remote Creatives are professionals who work in creative fields—such as graphic design, copywriting, video editing, or marketing—from a location outside of a traditional office, usually from home or any internet-enabled space. They collaborate with clients and teams virtually to develop visual, written, or multimedia content. Remote Creatives use digital tools to communicate, share files, and manage projects, making them flexible and adaptable to a variety of industries. Their work often requires strong communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to meet deadlines independently.

What are the qualifications to get a remote creative job?

The qualifications to get a remote creative job depends on the type of work you plan to pursue. Visual designers and product designers must have strong drawing and drafting skills, and a background in engineering may also be useful. For creative jobs in advertising or PR, you typically need a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a closely related field. UX or graphic design roles may require a background in fine arts or graphic art and relevant experience. To excel in a freelance creative job, you need strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. A reliable internet connection and proficiency with relevant technical tools are also essential.

These abilities are crucial for producing high-quality creative work, meeting deadlines, and maintaining effective collaboration despite physical distance.

How do remote creatives typically collaborate with team members despite working from different locations?

Remote Creatives commonly collaborate using a variety of digital tools such as project management platforms, shared cloud drives, and video conferencing software. Teams often schedule regular virtual check-ins to brainstorm, share updates, and review creative assets in real time. While working remotely can pose challenges in communication and feedback, clear expectations, organized workflows, and open channels greatly enhance collaboration and ensure projects stay on track. Building strong relationships with team members through proactive communication is key to succeeding in this role.

Job description

A Note from the Founder

Intelligent Change began as something personal.

Before it was a company, it was a question I was trying to answer in my own life:

Why do we know so much about personal growth, yet struggle to live it consistently?

Over the years, what we created resonated far beyond anything I imagined. Millions of people around the world now use Intelligent Change products as daily rituals to slow down, reflect, and live more intentionally.

Today, we've sold over 4 million products globally and reached millions of people around the world. But we are still early in our journey. We are building something that can scale meaningfully without losing its soul.

This role matters because design is one of the most powerful ways people experience our brand. Every image, campaign, product, and detail shapes how people feel before they ever read a word.

If you're excited by the idea of creating beautiful, meaningful work that helps millions of people build better lives, we'd love to meet you.

- Alex Ikonn
Founder, Intelligent Change

About Intelligent Change

Intelligent Change exists to help people design better lives through small, consistent rituals that compound over time.

We create physical tools and experiences that turn personal growth into something people can actually live. Not through pressure or motivation, but through structure, reflection, and intention.

We are the creators of the most viral journal in the world, The Five Minute Journal, a product that helped turn gratitude into a daily practice for millions of people globally. To date, Intelligent Change has sold over 4,000,000 products worldwide and built a deeply loyal, values-driven community.

Our products are used and recommended by Tim Ferriss, Emma Watson, Lily Collins, professional athletes, CEOs, founders, and leaders across industries, alongside millions of everyday people seeking more intentional lives.

Intelligent Change has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Forbes, ELLE, and other leading global publications. The New York Times described Intelligent Change as a brand that has "turned gratitude into a global movement."

The Role

We're looking for a design-led Creative Lead to help shape the next chapter of Intelligent Change.

This role is designed for an exceptional Senior Designer, Art Director, or Design Lead who is ready for broader creative ownership. You have a strong foundation in design and visual craft, but you're ready to expand beyond your own design output. You want to shape the idea, direct the execution, and influence how an entire brand shows up in the world.

You will lead creative across brand, campaigns, social, product, packaging, photography, and launches, working closely with the Founder and leaders across Product and Marketing.

You will also help guide our wider creative ecosystem, including external designers, photographers, videographers, and freelance creative partners.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to make the leap from exceptional creative practitioner to multidisciplinary creative leader.

Remote Role

This is a full-time, fully remote contract role.

We're open to candidates worldwide, provided you can work overlapping hours with our team, who operate across ET and GMT time zones.

While this is a remote role, there will be occasional shoots and creative productions that require on-site execution and art direction. Candidates based in Toronto or Montreal will be given preference.

What You'll Do
  • Help shape and evolve the creative expression of Intelligent Change across brand, product, campaigns, social, and content
  • Develop creative concepts for product launches, campaigns, collaborations, and seasonal moments
  • Design key creative across digital, social, email, ecommerce, campaigns, retail, and other brand touchpoints
  • Art direct photography and video, from concepts, references, and shot lists through on-set execution and final selects
  • Partner with Product Development to concept and design new products, packaging, and printed materials
  • Work closely with our Senior Editor to bring visual and verbal ideas together across the brand
  • Brief and direct freelance designers, photographers, videographers, stylists, and other creative partners
  • Review creative work and provide clear, thoughtful feedback that maintains a high bar for quality and consistency
  • Bring fresh references, ideas, and creative thinking from design, fashion, publishing, culture, and beyond
  • Use AI and emerging creative tools thoughtfully across research, ideation, visualization, and execution
Who You Are
  • Design-led: Your foundation is in graphic design, brand design, or art direction, with exceptional visual taste and strong fundamentals in typography, composition, layout, and image-making
  • Conceptually strong: You can take an idea beyond an individual asset and think about how it translates into a campaign, launch, product story, or broader creative world
  • Hands-on: You're an excellent designer who enjoys making the work as much as shaping the idea behind it
  • Product-minded: Physical products, packaging, print, publishing, materials, and tactile brand experiences genuinely interest you
  • Multidisciplinary: You care about the entire creative expression of a brand, from design and photography to copy, product, social, and campaigns
  • Collaborative: You communicate ideas clearly, give thoughtful creative feedback, and work well with people across different disciplines
  • Curious: Your references extend beyond your immediate category, and you're constantly paying attention to design, fashion, publishing, photography, interiors, culture, and emerging creative work
  • Ambitious: You're ready for greater creative ownership and excited by the opportunity to grow into a multidisciplinary creative leader
  • Values-aligned: You have a genuine interest in mindfulness, personal growth, psychology, wellness, or intentional living
What We're Looking For
  • Portfolio required. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered
  • 5+ years of experience in graphic design, brand design, art direction, or a related creative discipline
  • Experience working directly brand-side, or within an agency or studio in a branding capacity
  • Experience with lifestyle, consumer, wellness, beauty, fashion, publishing, or product-led brands strongly preferred
  • Exceptional graphic design skills, particularly typography, composition, layout, and visual systems
  • Experience developing creative concepts for campaigns, product launches, or broader brand initiatives
  • Direct experience art directing photography and video productions, including pre-production and on-set execution
  • Experience designing physical products, packaging, print, publishing, or editorial work
  • Experience designing across social, digital, ecommerce, email, and broader brand channels
  • Experience briefing and directing photographers, videographers, stylists, freelancers, and other creative partners
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
  • Proficiency using AI tools such as Claude, Midjourney, and other emerging creative platforms
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
Why This Role Matters

Design has always been at the heart of Intelligent Change.

Our products become part of people's homes, routines, and daily rituals. They are gifted, shared, and used for years.

Every creative decision shapes how people experience our brand.

As Creative Lead, you'll have the opportunity to influence much more than individual design projects. You'll help shape the products we make, the campaigns we create, the stories we tell, and how Intelligent Change shows up in the world.

For the right person, this is a rare opportunity to take everything you've learned as a designer or art director and apply it across the broader creative experience of a global brand.
