Position Summary:
The Senior Controls Engineer is a technical leader responsible for the design, oversight, and execution of complex systems involving electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components. This role demands a deep understanding of controls and system integration, a consultative approach to customer interaction, and the ability to transform requirements into robust, innovative solutions. The Senior Controls Engineer leads projects from concept through completion, mentors junior team members, and collaborates daily with cross-functional teams including engineering, fabrication, sales, and customers. This position plays a key role in driving technical excellence, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and advancing the company's engineering capabilities.
This position will require strong working knowledge of the fabrication environment required to build electrical control panels (UL508A and UL698A). It will also require the ability to program PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs (primarily Allen-Bradley or Codesys-based).
Primary Duties:
  • Manage all phases of assigned projects-including quoting, design, build, testing, and commissioning-to ensure timely and successful execution.
  • Conduct thorough engineering reviews of project documents, bills of materials, and related content in accordance with internal process requirements.
  • Coordinate and support project management activities, particularly on large or complex projects.
  • Serve as the primary customer-facing engineer for assigned projects, as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Mentor and guide engineers and technicians by sharing knowledge and technical expertise related to assigned projects.
  • Develop complete system designs and supporting documentation that meet or exceed project requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers to support designs and ensure high levels of satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Use AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor for system design and documentation.
  • Utilize Vault to manage design files and maintain proper documentation structure for each project.
  • Create, source, and compile all documentation required to support project deliverables, including submittals.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age as driving is required. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, in accordance with company guidelines.

Technical Expertise:
  • Strong understanding of electrical components and their principles of operation.
  • Proficient in UL508A and UL698A panel design, including schematics and layout.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD Electrical and PLC/HMI programming.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and practices across electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 is a plus.

Professional Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience with strong business acumen.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of engineering experience with a proven track record of leading successful projects.
  • Willingness to complete company-assigned training to maintain technical competency and product knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the industries MFCP serves is preferred.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and cross-functional internal teams.
