Position Summary:
The Controls Engineer II will be developing, programming, and commissioning automation control systems from concept through implementation. This role involves creating virtual commissioning environments usingEmulate3D, developingPLC logic programs, and designingSCADA and HMI applicationswithinIgnitionandFactoryTalk Optix Studioplatforms. The Controls Engineer will also design, and document detailed electrical control systems, producingelectrical schematicsandpanel assembly drawingsusingAutoCAD Electrical.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with multiple cross functional engineers to bring a solution from concept to reality.
- Work closely with cross functional teams to integrateconveyercontrol solutions, automated material handling equipment, and autonomous vehicles.
- Create andmaintainelectrical schematic drawings.
- Develop and debugcontrolssystem software.
- Ability to provide technicalexpertiseincontrolsand electrical engineering.
- Perform on-site commissioning support whenrequired.
- Perform necessary electrical field wiring.
- Perform necessary mechanical installation whenrequired.
- Perform design and code reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters in: Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in control systems engineering with a Bachelors degree or 3+ years with a Masters degree.
Essential Skills Required:
- Ability to develop PLC programs and HMI programs.
- Proficiencyreading schematics and troubleshooting existing control systemsincluding software debugging, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience commissioning and troubleshootingVFDs.
- Proficiencywith: Studio 5000/RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to Lead and/orassistin project definition, specification,purchasingfollow-through to installation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in software and hardware.
- Excellent written and oralcommunicationsskills,andstrong interpersonalskills.
- Jobwillrequireup to a maximum of 50% travel.
PreferredQualifications:
- Experience commissioning and troubleshootingservo drives.
- SQL Management experience.
- Inductive Automation Ignition experience
- Familiarity with Beckoff hardware and TwinCAT programming environment.
- Understanding of computer networking concepts and architecture
- Warehouse operations management experience or experience with warehouse management and/or execution systems.
