Controls Design Engineer

Position Summary:We are seeking an experienced Controls Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will design electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems, utilizing Beckhoff computers to manage servo motors and VFDs. This role combines hands-on engineering, programming, and project management to deliver high-quality automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage machine design projects from inception to delivery, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

  • Troubleshoot and debug PC- or PLC-based devices, developing protocols as needed.

  • Program machine computers in C# and C++ for project-specific applications.

  • Design and detail control schematics, BOMs, and specifications for servo systems.

  • Design, assemble, and test electrical control panels and wiring for machines and automation systems; provide guidance to others in assembly as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards in the design of electrical systems.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Complete basic training to understand company policies, IT systems, honing process applications, and cross-departmental workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent broad engineering knowledge.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, with 7–10 years preferred for full proficiency.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking to define issues, collect data, and draw conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with team members.

  • Project management and leadership skills, with experience guiding peers.

  • Comfortable working individually or collaboratively on complex tasks.

Technical Skills:

  • Real-time programming in C# and C++

  • PLC and HMI programming experience (Beckhoff or Siemens structured text preferred)

  • Knowledge of NFPA 79 and CE Machinery Directive

  • Experience with CRM, ERP, CAD/CAM software, and 2D CAD for wiring diagrams
