Job description

Job Title: Financial Analyst
Location: Chicago, IL (open to remote as well)
Duration: 6+ months
This position provides dedicated professional finance and accounting services surrounding compensation and equity transactions. This person will work on many detail-oriented activities such as recording journal entries, compensation tracking, account reconciliations, monthly close procedures, financial statement reporting and annual audit. This individual will liaise with other internal groups such as Corporate Accounting, FP&A, HR, Tax, Treasury and Payroll.
The Financial Analyst will be required to demonstrate strong analytical, reporting, and systems skills utilizing Excel VBA and database tools.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Variance analysis on an account level basis and legal entity level
  • Perform bank reconciliations as needed
  • Track awards for all new offer letters, continuing employment letters, and separation agreements
  • Compile and review journal entries for cash and non-cash compensation items for the monthly close process
  • Administer the firmโ€™s incentive compensation process with the Assistant Controller and Compensation Controller as well as communicate all compensation with the HR department
  • Provide award payments to Payroll on a semi-monthly basis
  • Reconcile compensation accounts on a monthly basis for all legal entities
  • Prepare annual phantom award letters for participating employees
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to create greater efficiency and productivity
  • Work closely with Tax, Treasury, and FP&A, Management Reporting departments as needed
  • Assist with Corporate audit tasks
Skills & experience required:
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred
  • 4-8 yearsโ€™ experience in a corporate reporting/corporate financial management role
  • Financial services industry experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented, hands-on, analytical, commitment to highly accurate quality work product; above average computer proficiency, particularly excel
  • Strong work commitment and personal ownership of assigned tasks
  • Experience with OneStream software a plus; understanding of ledger database structure and organizational hierarchies strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of recent GAAP pronouncements including (precodification 115, 123R, 141R, 157, 159, 160, and 167); experience and ability to apply standards in practice
  • Monthly/annual close experience with GL systems a plus
  • Experience with coding, particularly Excel VBA desired
