Senior Mission & Operations Satellite Systems Engineer - Hybrid/Remote Opportunity

Location: Montreal, Canada
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: On-site preferred; hybrid/remote considered for exceptional candidates (must be willing to work on-site at least one week per month)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Mission & Operations Satellite Systems Engineer to lead mission planning, systems engineering, and operational design for advanced LEO and MEO satellite programs. In this role, you will support mission analysis, satellite operations, and the integration of space and ground systems while driving the design and implementation of automated mission operations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in satellite mission design, systems engineering, modeling and simulation, and mission-critical aerospace programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mission planning, design, and operational analysis for LEO and MEO satellite missions.
  • Develop and enhance automated satellite operations and mission workflows.
  • Define and support space and ground segment architecture, system design, and integration.
  • Collaborate with flight software teams to support mission operations and system performance.
  • Develop and maintain satellite database operations and telemetry management concepts.
  • Create and utilize models and simulation tools to evaluate mission performance and operational readiness.
  • Develop engineering tools and automation scripts using Python or other scripting languages.
  • Utilize MATLAB and AGI Systems Tool Kit (STK) for mission analysis, modeling, and simulation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful mission execution and system integration.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience with mission design and analysis for LEO and/or MEO satellite systems.
  • Experience with automated satellite operations, particularly mission and operational design.
  • Strong systems engineering experience in:
    • Space and ground segment design, specification, and integration
    • Flight software and its role in mission operations
    • Satellite database operations
    • Telemetry structures and operational concepts
  • Experience creating or utilizing models and simulation software.
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB.
  • Experience using AGI Systems Tool Kit (STK).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading mission planning and operations for complex satellite programs.
  • Experience supporting end-to-end satellite mission design, analysis, and operations.
  • Familiarity with commercial or government aerospace and space programs.
