The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with strong technical accounting expertise and experience in a complex, project-based business environment.
Enterprise Accounting Leadership

- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to accounting personnel, regional accounting leaders, project accounting resources, and other accounting team members.
- Establish clear expectations, ownership, communication rhythms, and accountability across the accounting organization.
- Help develop the next generation of accounting leadership while strengthening the teamโs ability to support a growing global business.
- Create a culture of continuous improvement, timely follow-through, and practical partnership with the business.
Monthly Close and Accounting Operations
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process, ensuring accounting activities are completed accurately, consistently, and on time.
- Oversee key accounting processes including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, reserves, intercompany activity, cost accounting, project accounting support, and balance sheet review.
- Drive improvements in close timelines, account reconciliation quality, variance review, documentation, and overall accounting accuracy.
- Ensure accounting records are complete and properly supported prior to handoff to Financial Reporting and FP&A.
- Partner with Financial Reporting to support consolidated financial statement preparation, internal reporting packages, technical accounting review, and audit requirements without directly owning the Financial Reporting function.
Technical Accounting, GAAP, and Controls
- Serve as a key accounting resource for technical accounting matters impacting accounting operations, including revenue recognition inputs, project cost accounting, cost of goods sold, labor application, accruals, reserves, intercompany activity, and other complex accounting areas.
- Support the companyโs continued transition toward more disciplined GAAP-based accounting practices by ensuring accounting operations are aligned with current methodologies, policies, and controls.
- Develop, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, reconciliations, checklists, and internal controls across the enterprise.
- Identify and correct process gaps, control weaknesses, inconsistent accounting practices, and recurring errors.
- Partner with Financial Reporting, external auditors, and advisors to support audit readiness, technical accounting analysis, and annual audit requirements.
Project Accounting and Operations Partnership
- Partner closely with operations, project management, manufacturing, and finance leadership to improve project accounting discipline, cost visibility, and financial performance across a project-based business.
- Support accurate accounting for project revenue inputs, cost of goods sold, cost-to-complete estimates, pending and approved change orders, accruals, applied labor, gross margin, and work-in-process activity.
- Help ensure project-based accounting is consistent, timely, and useful for business decision-making.
- Work with operations and FP&A to improve forecasting support, backlog-related inputs, project review processes, margin analysis, and variance explanations.
- Promote consistent accounting treatment across entities, locations, cost centers, and project teams.
Systems, Process Improvement, and Oracle Implementation
- Partner with finance and IT leadership to support the companyโs Oracle implementation and continued improvement of financial systems.
- Help define accounting workflows, close processes, account structures, reporting inputs, controls, and process requirements within the ERP environment.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, reduce duplication, improve data integrity, and create scalable accounting practices.
- Lead or support finance transformation initiatives that improve the accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness of accounting information.
- Ensure accounting processes are designed to support both current business needs and future growth.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with FP&A, Financial Reporting, treasury, tax, IT, legal, operations, and executive leadership to support sound business decisions.
- Provide practical accounting guidance to business leaders while maintaining appropriate controls, discipline, and consistency.
- Communicate accounting issues clearly and professionally to both accounting and non-accounting audiences.
- Serve as a trusted business partner to the CFO and broader leadership team.
- Influence change across the organization while maintaining a collaborative and solution-oriented approach.
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant leadership responsibility.
- Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, or similar senior accounting leadership role.
- Experience leading accounting operations within a complex, multi-entity organization.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting operations, internal controls, account reconciliations, close processes, audit support, and the accounting requirements needed to support accurate financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with a separate Financial Reporting function.
- Experience with project accounting, percentage-of-completion accounting, cost-to-complete accounting, construction accounting, EPC accounting, manufacturing accounting, or other project-based financial environments strongly preferred.
- Experience in construction, engineering, EPC, industrial services, manufacturing, energy, or another project-driven business strongly preferred.
