What is a remote content strategist?

A Remote Content Strategist is a professional who develops and manages content plans for businesses or organizations, while working from a location outside of a traditional office. Their responsibilities often include researching target audiences, creating content calendars, coordinating with writers and designers, and ensuring that all content aligns with brand goals and messaging. They use analytics to measure content performance and make data-driven decisions to improve engagement and reach. Remote Content Strategists rely on digital communication and collaboration tools to work effectively with team members across different locations.

What does a remote content strategist do?

As a remote content strategist, you work from home or from a remote office, providing content ideation, execution, and strategy to clients or your employer. Your duties and responsibilities frequently overlap with other creative professionals, and you may do some copywriting on occasion, but typically you work at a higher, less-granular level to fit content into larger marketing strategies. For instance, you may work with user experience designers to ensure that relevant content is always accessible to website users at different points in the sales funnel, or you may provide messaging strategy for a wider advertising campaign. In each case, you work with a team of other content creators and creative professionals, including designers, web developers, and more.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote content strategist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Content Strategist, you need strong writing, editing, and analytical skills, typically supported by experience in content marketing or communications. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs, and analytics platforms such as Google Analytics is essential. Outstanding communication, collaboration, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for managing projects and aligning with distributed teams. These abilities ensure effective content planning, brand consistency, and measurable results in a remote work environment.

How do remote content strategists typically collaborate with other team members to ensure content aligns with overall business goals?

Remote Content Strategists regularly work with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, design, SEO specialists, and subject matter experts, to align content initiatives with broader business objectives. Collaboration often happens through virtual meetings, project management platforms, and shared editorial calendars. Clear communication and regular check-ins are essential to ensure everyone is on the same page and that content supports campaign goals and brand messaging. This collaborative approach helps maintain consistency and drives measurable results for the organization.

Job description

Company Description

Who is HelloKindred?

HelloKindred are specialists in staffing marketing, creative and technology roles, offering a range of talent solutions that can be delivered on-site, remotely or hybrid.

Our vision is to make work accessible and people’s lives better. We do this by disrupting traditional employment barriers – connecting ambitious talent to flexible opportunities with trusted brands.

Job Description

Anticipated Contract End Date/Length: 8 weeks, may be potential to extend
Work Set Up: Hybrid setup to facilitate frequent in office working sessions (days to be confirmed)

We are looking for an experienced Marketing Content Strategist with deep Financial Services knowledge for a project to support go-to-market efforts of a leading professional services firm.

Working closely with the Financial Services Practice Lead, Sales, and subject matter experts, you will shape how the firm's capabilities and solutions are positioned and communicated to clients. You’ll turn complex offerings and expertise into clear, differentiated messaging and compelling content for senior and C-suite audiences.

This is an ideal role for someone who combines Financial Services fluency with exceptional B2B storytelling and knows how to make complex professional services offerings relevant, distinctive, and compelling to clients.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Practice and Sales leaders to develop GTM messaging, positioning, and client-facing narratives
  • Translate complex Financial Services capabilities and solutions into clear, commercially compelling stories
  • Develop a modular GTM toolkit covering the practice, offerings, domain expertise, and differentiators
  • Shape solution narratives and sales assets for early-stage and more detailed CxO conversations
  • Review existing content, identify gaps, and bring consistency and structure to the overall story
  • Work with SMEs and design partners to turn messaging into polished, reusable sales materials
  • Bring fresh thinking to how the firm communicates its point of view and differentiates its offering.
Qualifications
  • Strong Financial Services industry knowledge including banking, capital markets, insurance, wealth/asset management, payments, or related areas.
  • Experience in content strategy, GTM messaging, sales enablement, or solution marketing, ideally within professional services, consulting, or B2B technology/services.
  • Excellent strategic storytelling, writing, and synthesis skills.
  • Experience developing messaging for senior executive and C-suite audiences.
  • Ability to work directly with senior Practice, Sales, and SME stakeholders and turn complex inputs into a compelling story.
  • A strategic mindset, you should be comfortable shaping the message, not simply executing against a brief.
