Job description

BW Industrial Construction is seeking a seasoned Superintendent (or Senior Superintendent) with deep experience overseeing demolition of production line equipment, utilities, piping systems, and industrial infrastructure. This role requires strong operational leadership and working knowledge of California construction laws, including CSLB requirements, Cal/OSHA standards, and environmental compliance for demolition activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations for demolition of production lines, mechanical equipment, utilities, process piping, electrical systems, and structural components within active industrial environments.
  • Develop and execute demolition plans, sequencing, isolation procedures, and safety controls aligned with Cal/OSHA, Title 8, and Title 24 requirements.
  • Coordinate permitting, notifications, and compliance activities with local jurisdictions, utility providers, and environmental agencies.
  • Oversee subcontractors, equipment operators, and labor teams; ensure adherence to CSLB trade classifications, scope boundaries, and California labor regulations.
  • Manage utility shutdowns, lockout/tagout, hazardous material identification, and safe removal of energized or pressurized systems.
  • Maintain daily reporting, progress tracking, and documentation required for California regulatory audits.
  • Partner with project managers to maintain schedule, cost control, and client communication.
  • Ensure strict compliance with California safety standards, including ammonia, asbestos, silica, fall protection, confined space, and demolition-specific regulations.
  • Support quality assurance for demolition, removal, and site restoration activities.


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of superintendent‑level experience with at least 5 + years of previous industrial demolition, equipment removal, utilities, and piping systems experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of California construction laws, including CSLB licensing rules, Cal/OSHA, and demolition permitting.
  • Strong experience in production facility shutdowns, isolation, and safe dismantling of mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret demolition plans, P&IDs, utility maps, and structural drawings.
  • Proven leadership of field crews in high‑risk industrial environments.
  • Ability to build, lead, and staff crews using established industry relationships
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and client‑facing professionalism.
  • Flexible to support project assignments in different locations, depending on business and project needs. 
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food & beverage, manufacturing, chemical, or industrial production facilities or industrial construction general contracting.
  • Familiarity with AQMD, stormwater, and waste disposal regulations for demolition debris.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.


Compensation (California Pay Transparency) Pay Range: $50.00 + per hour, depending on experience, plus per diem when travel outside the Greater Houston Area is required.
