Remote Construction Data Analytics information

What is remote construction data analytics?

Remote construction data analytics involves collecting, processing, and analyzing data from construction projects without being physically present on-site. Professionals in this field use digital tools and software to monitor project progress, track equipment and materials, and identify trends or issues from a distance. This approach helps optimize decision-making, improve project efficiency, and reduce costs by leveraging real-time data and insights. Remote analytics are increasingly important as construction companies adopt more technology-driven methods.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote construction data analytics professional?

To thrive as a Remote Construction Data Analytics professional, you need a strong background in data analysis, construction management principles, and a relevant degree such as construction engineering, data science, or a related field. Familiarity with analytics tools like Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and construction management systems such as Procore or Autodesk BIM 360 is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail are soft skills that help translate complex data insights to project stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate, actionable analytics that drive efficiency, cost savings, and informed decision-making in construction projects.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote construction data analytics, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote construction data analytics often encounter challenges such as data inconsistency from multiple sources, limited real-time access to on-site information, and effective communication with field teams. To address these, it's important to establish standardized data collection protocols, leverage cloud-based tools for real-time data sharing, and maintain regular virtual meetings with project stakeholders. Building strong relationships with both technical and construction teams also helps ensure that analytics insights are actionable and relevant to on-site operations.

Job description

Location: Las Vegas, NV

About Switch

At Switch, we don’t just design, build and operate data centers—we are enabling the technology of the future. Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.

We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.

The Role: Data Center Construction Field Oversight Leader

As a Data Center Construction Field Oversight Leader at Switch, you will provide field oversight across active data center construction projects. You will spend at least 80% of your time at construction sites, evaluating execution against schedule, quality, safety, and operational expectations. You will identify risks, validate reported project status, and give leadership a clear view of construction health across the portfolio. This is an oversight role. Site teams and Construction Managers remain responsible for day-to-day project execution.

What You’ll Do
  • Spend at least 80% of your time in the field at active data center construction sites.

  • Assess General Contractor and vendor performance, including schedule, quality, productivity, staffing, coordination, and delivery against commitments.

  • Conduct regular site walks, field observations, audits, and performance reviews to identify risks and execution gaps.

  • Validate reported project status against field conditions, milestones, performance data, and leading indicators.

  • Identify emerging risks early and escalate material issues that could affect construction outcomes.

  • Bring Construction Managers, General Contractors, vendors, Engineering, Operations, and other teams together to resolve issues that cross functional boundaries.

  • Establish a consistent approach to field observations, audits, performance reviews, risk reporting, and escalation across projects.

  • Identify recurring issues and construction risks across projects and campuses, not just within individual projects.

  • Provide central leadership with clear, actionable reporting on construction health, risks, trends, and areas requiring intervention.

  • Hold contractors, vendors, and internal teams accountable for commitments while keeping project execution with the responsible site teams.

  • Capture lessons from individual projects and help apply them across the construction organization.

What We’re Looking For
  • You seek input from the people closest to the work before reaching conclusions or recommending action.

  • You communicate field conditions, risks, and decisions clearly, including when reported status does not match what you observe.

  • You use sound judgment to separate isolated project issues from risks that require broader action.

  • You raise risks early and bring practical solutions, not just problems.

  • You build productive working relationships while maintaining clear standards and accountability.

  • You follow through on commitments and provide leaders with reliable, fact-based information.

  • You stay focused on safety, quality, and operational requirements in mission-critical construction environments.

What You’ll Bring
  • 10+ years of relevant construction experience, including significant experience with General Contractors and large-scale construction projects.

  • Deep knowledge of field construction practices, contractor performance, scheduling, quality, coordination, and construction risk.

  • Experience evaluating complex construction projects through direct field observation and performance data.

  • Experience identifying construction risks early and working with project teams to resolve barriers to execution.

  • Ability to assess performance across multiple projects and turn field observations into clear recommendations for senior leaders.

  • Credibility working directly with experienced Construction Managers, General Contractors, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and operations teams.

  • Experience with mission-critical facilities or data center construction is preferred.

We encourage qualified candidates to apply even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.

Why Switch?
  • A Culture of Karma – We are self-motivated by karma, ensuring our actions contribute to a positive, supportive and forward-thinking environment.

  • Industry Leading Designs – Work with the most advanced data center technology on the planet and be a part of emerging technology development.

  • Career Stability & Growth – In this expanding industry, we invest in our people, providing opportunities & advancement in a stable, growing company.

  • Generous Benefits Package - Switch provides comprehensive coverage for you and your family that can be tailored to fit your personal needs, and more!
