Position Summary

The Odyssey Technical Center has an exciting new opportunity for a Solution Architect to lead Odyssey's AI and Autonomy technical domains. We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, and deploy advanced ML systems that power scalable, secure, and high-impact AI capabilities across the enterprise. The ideal candidate has deep experience in ML architecture, MLOps, backend microservices, and cloud-native technologies. This role will be instrumental in shaping our AI platform, accelerating model development, and delivering vetted concepts and solutions that support both internal teams and enterprise-level applications. This role owns the cross-cutting technical charter and operating model for AI and Autonomy and supports growth and development of the Technical Center and of the larger Odyssey Technical community. This position can be in Huntsville, AL, Lincoln, MA, or REMOTE. 

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain secure ML systems including gateways, authorization frameworks, and scalable model endpoints. 
  • Build self-service tooling, templates, and automation to accelerate agentic AI and model development workflows. 
  • Develop and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines for ML services, model deployment, and package distribution. 
  • Create robust model evaluation tooling enabling repeatable, versioned model selection and experiment tracking. 
  • Design and deliver computer vision systems for product detection, dataset generation, and image-based search capabilities. 
  • Implement automated validation, conversion, and cost-optimized deployment pipelines for ML models. 
  • Build backend microservices to support deep learning inference, image augmentation, and a variety of AI-enabled applications. 
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, research, and product teams to translate requirements into scalable ML solutions. 
  • Ensure reliability, observability, and security across deployed GenAI endpoints and ML infrastructure.

Technical Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field. 
  • 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning Engineering, MLOps, AI Systems Engineering, or similar roles. 
  • Proven experience architecting secure ML platforms, gateways, or authorization systems for enterprise environments. 
  • Expertise developing and training models and systems using Python, PyTorch, and OpenCV. 
  • Strong experience with cloud-based ML ecosystems such as AWS SageMaker, Lambda, S3, or equivalent. 
  • Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. 
  • Experience with ML lifecycle management frameworks such as MLflow, ClearML, or Databricks. 
  • Demonstrated ability to create reusable model deployment templates, automated validation tooling, and scalable inference APIs. 
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and messaging tools like Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ. 
  • Proficiency with backend development using standard languages such as Python, C#, C++, Java, and SQL.
