Job description

A3 Consulting is seeking a Data Migration amp; ETL Engineer to support a critical Department of Defense (DoD) Insider Threat modernization effort. If you’d enjoy playing a key role in ensuring the seamless and accurate migration of historical data and enabling the success of a next-generation national security system, this role is for you!
In this job you will:
  • Support the design, development, and execution of ETL processes used to migrate large datasets from a PostgreSQL-based legacy system into the ServiceNow ITSM platform.
  • Create detailed source-to-target data mapping documents, defining the transformation logic required to align legacy data with the new ServiceNow application's data model.
  • Design, build, and maintain data loading solutions using ServiceNow Import Sets, Transform Maps, Data Sources, and scripting to support efficient and accurate data migration.
  • Optimize migration performance for large-volume data loads while maintaining data integrity and minimizing migration risk.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of the source data to identify potential quality issues, anomalies, and inconsistencies prior to migration.
  • Implement rigorous data validation and reconciliation procedures to ensure data integrity and completeness between the source and target systems.
  • Develop and execute scripts to cleanse and transform data, ensuring it conforms to the business rules and requirements of the new application.
  • Perform data profiling to identify duplicates, orphaned records, inconsistencies, and other data quality issues before migration.
  • Develop processes to extract data from various sources, including direct database queries and external system APIs (REST/SOAP) for ongoing data integration needs.
  • Develop Python or JavaScript scripts to automate data extraction, transformation, validation, and quality checks.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team to understand API endpoints and data structures for both legacy and future data integrations.
  • Develop reusable automation utilities to support repeatable migration and validation activities across multiple environments.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • DoD 8570/8140 Certification Required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a data engineering, ETL, or data migration role.
  • Experience supporting data migration efforts within the ServiceNow platform, including Import Sets, Transform Maps, Data Sources, and the ServiceNow data model.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Proven experience extracting data from relational databases (especially PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Python or JavaScript for data transformation, automation, and validation.
Desired Qualifications:
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • Understanding of DoD policies, directives, and initiatives as they relate to custom application development (i.e. DoD Risk Management Framework (DoDRMF), DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Section 508 Compliance
Security Clearance:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance Required.
Location:
  • Remote (DC Metro Area)
Salary Range:
  • The salary range of this position is $120,000 - $132,000 commensurate with experience and achievement.
