This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on structured mathematical reasoning review, advanced problem solving, proof evaluation, benchmark development, quantitative analysis, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their mathematical expertise to solve challenging problems, evaluate reasoning quality, prepare structured written outputs, and support accurate, rigorous mathematical review workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Advanced Problem Solving & Mathematical Reasoning

  • Solve advanced mathematical problems across competition math, proof-based mathematics, quantitative reasoning, and research-style problem sets
  • Work through problems involving areas such as number theory, combinatorics, algebra, real analysis, complex analysis, probability, and linear algebra
  • Produce precise, well-structured mathematical solutions with clear reasoning and rigorous justification
  • Identify gaps, errors, unsupported steps, and expected mathematical outcomes in complex reasoning tasks

Proof Review & Reasoning Evaluation

  • Review mathematical proofs, solution paths, derivations, and advanced reasoning outputs against structured criteria
  • Evaluate correctness, rigor, clarity, completeness, and logical consistency in mathematical work
  • Provide clear written feedback explaining reasoning issues, missing steps, alternative approaches, and solution quality
  • Support structured review of challenging mathematical benchmarks and evaluation materials

Original Problem Design & Quantitative Assessment

  • Develop original advanced mathematical problems, solution keys, and evaluation rubrics
  • Support benchmark-style work involving mathematical reasoning, proof construction, and quantitative evaluation
  • Apply statistical or quantitative methods to assess performance patterns across mathematical tasks
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment across submitted work

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • Strong background in advanced mathematics, mathematical competitions, proof-based coursework, academic research, quantitative finance, theoretical computer science, statistics, or related quantitative work
  • Demonstrated participation or achievement in elite mathematical competitions such as IMO, Putnam, USAMO, national olympiads, or comparable advanced competitions
  • Deep proficiency across multiple mathematical areas such as combinatorics, number theory, algebra, real analysis, complex analysis, linear algebra, probability, or statistics
  • Ability to produce precise, rigorous, and well-structured mathematical writing
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to evaluate complex reasoning step by step
  • Clear written communication skills and ability to explain mathematical conclusions carefully

Educational Background

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, engineering, economics, or a related quantitative field is helpful
  • Advanced degree, olympiad-level training, academic research experience, or comparable high-level mathematical background is highly relevant
  • Equivalent practical experience in mathematical research, quantitative analysis, theoretical computer science, or rigorous problem-solving environments is also valuable

Nice to Have

  • IMO, Putnam, USAMO, national olympiad, or equivalent high-level competition experience
  • Graduate-level training in mathematics, statistics, theoretical computer science, physics, or quantitative finance
  • Experience writing original mathematical problems, proof solutions, evaluation rubrics, or benchmark-style materials
  • Familiarity with mathematical modeling, quantitative research, probability, statistics, or computational mathematics
  • Strong comfort working through long, challenging, reasoning-heavy tasks with sustained focus

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply advanced mathematical expertise to structured remote project work
  • Contribute to high-quality mathematical reasoning, proof review, problem design, and quantitative evaluation workflows
  • Work on challenging assignments aligned with your mathematical strengths
  • Use your mathematical judgment in a focused, rigorous review environment
  • Remote structure with competitive hourly compensation

Contract Details

  • Independent contractor role
  • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
  • Part-time commitment depending on project availability
  • Competitive rates between $45–$70 per hour depending on expertise
