About the role: Snapsheet is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Virtual Appraisals (VA) Team! The VA team continuously improves the software that made us famous, our internal end-to-end claims platform. They work closely with our Operations team to add automation and to reduce human touches and cycle times ultimately making the claims process more efficient. 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Lead infrastructure upgrades and modernization efforts, including migrating Snapsheet's Ruby on Rails applications to current and supported versions.
  • Identify and resolve technical debt, improving system stability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
  • Contribute to technical design processes and provide improvement suggestions and feedback.
  • Work in an agile environment and participate in weekly stand-ups, retrospectives, etc.
  • Proactively challenge scopes, flag issues, and suggest alternatives.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, product management, and design to identify and solve complex problems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field, or comparable professional experience. demonstrating equivalent knowledge and skills.
  • 5+ years of full-stack focused web development experience
  • Experience with relational databases, designing schemas, and writing performant SQL queries
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure
  • Understanding of scalability challenges and performance of server-side code
  • Prior experience using Ruby on Rails
  • Prior infrastructure upgrade experience a plus
  • Eagerness to learn from and work with a collaborative team
  • Commitment to quality and passion for technology and creating cutting-edge solutions
  • Ability to manage tasks and to contribute towards multiple initiatives during a sprint

Compensation that Grows with You

For this position, the base salary range is $135,000 - $165,000 per year. While this range serves as a guideline, your actual compensation will reflect your unique experience, and skill set.
