Inner Circle Agency is hiring on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing organization specializing in power distribution and electrical infrastructure. Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Switchgear Design Engineer (UL891) to design low voltage switchboards and panelboards. This role is based in the Charleston area, with relocation support available for the right candidate. You will play a key role in developing complex electrical systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring designs from concept to production.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design low voltage switchboards and panelboards in compliance with applicable standards and regulations

  • Create 3D sheet metal components and flat patterns

  • Develop complex 3D assemblies with large multi-component BOMs

  • Produce wiring diagrams including PLCs, relays, breakers, and power systems

  • Generate 2D drawings including layouts, single-line diagrams, and front views

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and vendors to ensure accurate execution

  • Translate client requirements into practical and efficient design solutions


Qualifications:Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field)

  • 4 - 8 years of professional experience (working for UL891 OEM or Equivalent)

  • Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)

  • Solid understanding of electrical systems and design principles

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:
  • Experience with UL standards (UL891, UL67, UL508A, UL1558)
