Position Summary:
Tetra Tech is adding a Civil Engineering CADD Designer to our High-Performance Building Group that focuses on facilities and infrastructure in the U.S. Work includes federal, commercial, manufacturing, renewable energy, data centers, microgrids and public health facilities. Core work includes professional services for planning, design, and construction phase engineering.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:

  • Prepare 2D and basic 3D drawings, including plans, profiles, sections, and details, using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
  • Draft site layouts, grading plans, utility plans, roadway designs, and stormwater features based on engineer markups
  • Create and update base maps using survey data, GIS files, and aerial imagery
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs for earthwork, pipe lengths, and structures
  • Apply company and client CAD standards, including layers, styles, and templates
  • Perform basic quality checks to verify completeness, labeling, and consistency of drawings and models
  • Apply advanced drafting skills, techniques, tools, and materials in support of project deliverables
  • Resolve routine questions and drafting issues independently, escalating complex issues to senior staff as needed
  • Revise drawings and models based on internal and client feedback
  • Develop 2D and 3D models of proposed designs using CAD software

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in CAD drafting; or a related field from a technical trade school or training through a certified Autodesk Training Program in Civil 3D
  • 2 years post-secondary conventional drafting and CAD training. 
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgement and work to achieve generally stated objectives and requirements
  • Must be able to collaborate with others to establish timelines and budgets, as well as solve problems
  • Have knowledge of industry, engineering standards, mathematics, and materials
  • A valid driver's license, and ability to travel to client offices and project sites when required (local and interstate travel required)
  • Must be able to pass a background screen
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in civil/site drafting and design for site development, underground utilities, stormwater management systems and roadways

Specialized Knowledge Abilities:

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required
  • Proficient with design parameters related to ADA design
  • Experience in civil/site drafting and design for site development and roadways
  • Familiar with civil construction, civil engineering standards, and materials
  • Able to generate precise layout drawings from sketches and specifications
  • Knowledgeable of standard drafting practices and procedures
  • Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat or similar software

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit and work at a computer for extended periods; occasional standing and walking within the office environment.

  • Requires use of hands for typing, handling materials, and operating office equipment; vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay Transparency:
This role can be performed from a wide range of locations throughout the US. The anticipated pay range for this position is $31-$40 per hour. However, the pay offered may vary depending on primary work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. 

Additional Information:

  • Regular work schedule is to be Monday thru Friday, 8:00am EST to 5:00pm EST. Flexible in having the position fully remote.

  • Traveling is not required
